Today is the feast of Saint Andrew Bobola, A Jesuit Priest who lived in the 1600s. Saint Andrew Bobola was martyred brutally by Ukrainian leaders who saw him as a threat. Father Kubicki reads some words from Pope Pius XII about this great saint.

Today is the feast of Saint Isidore the Farmer, a man who worked the land in Spain for a wealthy family in around the year AD 1100. Saint Isidore used to go to Mass every day before starting his work and would receive help from angels so he could finish on time.

There is a strong tradition that the first person who Jesus appeared to after his resurrection was Mary his mother. Father Kubicki reads some words from Saint Pope John Paul II who reflects on this pious tradition.

Today Father Kubicki’s community, the Jesuits, are celebrating the feast of Saint Jose Maria Rubio, who died in 1929. Known as the Father of the Poor Saint Jose had a motto “do what God wants and want what God does.”

Today is the feast of Saint Philip and Saint James the Lesser. Saint James was the author of the Letter of James, found in the Bible. Saint James’ letter shows us that we must not separate faith and works in our life, for one without the other is dead.

Today is the feast of Saint Athanasius, who was present during the council of Nicaea. Later when Saint Athanasius became bishop, he suffered much persecution for defending the Nicene creed. Father reads some words from Saint Athanasius honoring Mary.

Today is the feast of Saint Catherine of Siena, a woman who was one of the first female doctors of the Church along with. Saint Catherine strongly encouraged the Pope at the time to return to Rome when he relocated to Avignon France.

Today is the feast of Saint Louis de Montfort. Saint Louis de Montfort had a deep devotion to the Virgin Mary.  Father Kubicki reads some words from Pope Saint John Paul II about how Mary can help us to be more like Jesus.

The Gospel readings at Mass are from John showing that Jesus is the bread of life. Father Kubicki shares some insights about the Eucharistic revival. We need the Eucharist to help us through the trials of life especially in today’s world with so obstacles.

The Foundress of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Nano Nagle, died today at the age of 65. In the year 2000 Nano was voted Irish Woman of the millennium because of the great things she did as she followed Jesus.  

Today is the Feast of Saint Mark, one of the four Gospel writers. Father Kubicki shares some reflections on the end of Mark’s Gospel where Jesus tells his disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all creation. How can we preach the Gospel in everything we do?

Today is the feast of Saint Fidelis. Fidelis means faithful. Being faithful is a trait which many people are afraid of while at the same time admire. Saint Fidelis was faithful to Christ until the end, even in the face of martyrdom.

As we continue our Easter celebrations, we hear about the story of the two disciples who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus. Father reads some reflections from Pope Francis regarding Christians as travelers, travelers who know our destination.
