Today we begin a new series I’ve really been looking forward to! We are going to spend the next weeks leading up to the holidays investigating the book of Ruth in a series I’m calling Profound Provision! This series is all about God’s faithful and profound provision for us in our lives…even in the face of foolish choices, feeble faith, and imperfect lives.  

Welcome back to the third and final session of our Vision Refresh series. Today, I want to talk about how our local and global efforts are resourced. 

If you are a Christian here today, I want to remind you of this overarching call that God has placed on your life.  The helpful news is, before God gives us this calling, he models it in front of us and demonstrates it himself. He lives it out…then turns and says, “Now…you go and do it.”

Today we begin a new series of messages I’m calling “Why Church?” Each year at this time as our church begins a new ministry season together, I always like to refresh us in why we do what we do.  

Today we are going to talk about the forgiveness of God. But what does forgiveness have to do with the nature of God or the character of God? As I wrestled with that question this week I came to this simple conclusion. Forgiveness is the natural outcome of all of God’s attributes.

Today, we are going to talk about God's patience. Patience is hard for us. And that’s why I think our time talking about what God’s like today has the potential to reset and reshape us when it comes to patience.

We’re continuing our series What’s God Like taking a look at the attributes of God, what He’s like, and how He relates to us. Today, we are talking about the sovereignty of God and how it leads Christians to respond with praise.

Today we step into our first attribute of God in our summer series, “What’s God like?” Here’s how this series can help you: Increased awareness leads to increased closeness. The more we know and the more familiar you are with God, the more willing you are to love him, trust him, and follow his leading in your life. Today I want to talk about the nearness of God. 

Understanding what God’s like will enable us to relate to him in a more healthy and effective ways. And it will enable us to help others know and related to God in more healthy ways. Becoming well acquainted with God, and how he operates, what he values and what cuts across the grain of his very nature has tons of practical value for us as we live out our lives and learn to follow him.

Our series in Acts is about ready to wrap up and this morning we’re looking at chapter 26 where we discover what the key is to the Christian faith and the gospel we proclaim.

When we read the book of Acts, we are not reading a history book or a textbook; instead, God gave us His inspired Word to record for us in detail about who God is and what He expects of our lives. And this morning, we get to see the first and only address in the book of Acts from Paul directly to Christians, specifically to the leaders of the Church, about what our lives are to look like. 

Today, we are going to look at Acts 19:21-41 and see God uses his disciples to bless and transform communities and cultures through the power of the gospel.

 A second powerful lesson we’ve been learning is the reason the Church and her gospel is an unstoppable force. It’s because both are being driven forward by the power of the Holy Spirit! In our text today, Paul clears up some confusion about the Holy Spirit.

Friends this is one of the most brilliant examples of sharing the gospel we have in the New Testament. He establishes common ground, zeros in on a problem they have by calling out the altar to the “unknown god.” The wording in Greek can mean simply ‘the god whom no one knows about,’ or ‘the god who has no name.’  Then he declares…I’m going to introduce you to the God you have not met yet!

So far, we have covered the first 15 chapters; a journey focused on spreading the gospel and opening the door of faith to a new group of people… the Gentiles.
