Isaiah 2:1–22, the exaltation of the mountain of the Lord, and the humbling of proud humanity. 1 Peter 1:13–25, Ransomed by the blood of Christ, born again by the living and abiding word of God.

Isaiah 1:1–28, Isaiah calls people to repent to receive the forgiveness of sins, and produce the fruit of repentance, so that their sins, which are now as scarlet may be white as snow. 1 Peter 1:1–12, Peter addresses the newly baptized about their inheritance with the saints.

Daniel 6:1–28, Daniel in the lions’ den. Revelation 22:1–21, a new Eden, a new beginning, and the great prayer of the church to speed its coming: “Come, Lord Jesus!”

Daniel 5:1–30, the mysterious handwriting on the wall announces the end of the Babylonian empire. Revelation 21:9–27, the glorious city of Gold, Jerusalem, the home of righteousness!

Daniel 4:1–37, we learned that even the greatest kings of the greatest most far-flung nations are ultimately under the sovereignty of the one, true God of Israel, whether they know it or not. Revelation 21:1–8, the new Jerusalem, arrayed as a bride, a glorious place where God dwells with human beings!

Daniel 3:1–30, God’s people in captivity are put to the test, to worship an idol, and when they refuse to do it, they are thrown into an oven. Revelation 20:1–15, the sudden violent overthrow of God’s enemies will happen when Jesus comes again, after the thousand years described in this chapter.

Daniel 2:24–49, Daniel interprets the King’s dream, which pictures four human kingdoms in succession, and the fifth, a kingdom from heaven, an eternal kingdom, that will replace them all. Revelation 19:1–21, the marriage feast of the Lamb which shall have no end! The rider on the white horse – the word of God! Two views of the final judgment.

Daniel 2:1–23, just as with Joseph and Egypt, now also Daniel in Babylon, the king is disturbed by dreams; and this, it turns out, is the ticket to Daniel’s rise! Revelation 18:1–24, a song celebrating the final, complete destruction of Babylon the great. What is it talking about?

Daniel 1:1–21, while Jeremiah prophesies in Jerusalem, Daniel, in Babylon with the exiles, navigates life among the pagans. Matthew 28:1–20, Matthew’s account of the resurrection of our Lord.

Jeremiah 38:1–28, the strange Case of the last King to rule in Jerusalem, Zedekiah. Matthew 27:57–66, some of the most important facts surrounding the resurrection concerned the empty tomb.

Jeremiah 33:1–22, with the impending exile, the focus of the prophets, and, especially Jeremiah, turns more and more toward a future king and a restored priesthood. Matthew 27:11–32, what do Gentiles make of Jesus? We review the actions of Pontius Pilate and the soldiers who crucified Jesus.

Jeremiah 31:1–17, 23–34, in a very welcome change, Jeremiah is given much good news to proclaim to the people of God, even as disaster is impending, announcing God‘s plan for a new covenant, an unbreakable covenant! Matthew 27:1–10, Judas, unlike Peter, having sinned against Christ, rather than repent, hanged himself.

Jeremiah 30:1–24, Jeremiah’s focus switches from the disaster which is coming to the great blessing and promise that God makes to his people concerning events after the captivity. Matthew 26:57–75, Jesus is placed under oath, and asked to admit whether he thinks he’s the Christ. Jesus’ answer is couched in the language of Daniel chapter 7.

Jeremiah 29:1–19, Jeremiah, from Jerusalem, sends a letter to those in exile, advising them to get comfortable in their new location, because they’re going to be there for a while. Matthew 26:36–56, Jesus prays three times in the garden; Jesus speaks three things at the time of his arrest.

Jeremiah 26:1–19, Jeremiah predicts the destruction of the temple, and is opposed by the false prophets and the priests, and is defended by the public officials in the land! Meanwhile, the people swing both ways! Matthew 26:20–35, Jesus will suffer and die after one betrays Him, one denies him three times, and all of his disciples fall away – and yet, the real meaning of his death is this, that he...

Jeremiah 25:1–18, Jeremiah specifically tells the people to settle in for a long captivity – 70 years, and every one of them well earned! Matthew 26:1–19, Jesus is anointed, as though his body were being prepared for burial, even though he had not died yet. He comments on this, and begins to make preparation for the celebration of his final passover.

Jeremiah 23:21–40, God’s harsh judgment on those who claim to have a message from the Lord, but who really are only manipulating God’s people with their own words. Matthew 25:31–46, the good deeds of which Jesus speaks in this parable are not any good deed done for any poor or vulnerable person, but those good deeds which exhibit the love of the Saints for their fellow Saints.

Jeremiah 23:1–20, although Jeremiah‘s message was primarily negative, we see in the first part of this reading a very positive message, a message about the righteous branch which will spring from the family tree of David, and a new and more wonderful exodus! Matthew 23:14–30, the parable of the talents, which beautifully pictures our basic obligations before the Lord.

Jeremiah 22:1–23, Jeremiah, who loved Josiah, the last faithful Davidic king in Jerusalem before the exile, now preaches harshly against Josiah’s son, Jehoachim, who has not been faithful to the Lord. Matthew 25:1–13, the parable of the wedding feast, and some of the common themes in Jesus’ parables concerning the end times.

Jeremiah 20:1–18, bitter words from the prophet Jeremiah tell us just how much he suffered because of this ministry of condemnation that he had. Matthew 24:29–51, Jesus describes what the end will look like, and that no one will see it coming.

Jeremiah 11:1–23, the blunt in brutal truth: the people of God have broken the covenant, and are now going to suffer the consequences predicted by Moses long ago. Matthew 24:1–28, like Jeremiah before him, Jesus also predicts disaster on Jerusalem, and in particular on the temple. He also describes the nature of the final age of this earth.

Jeremiah 8:18–9: 12, Judah is desperately wounded by her own sins. Jeremiah asks, is there no balm in Gilead? And, we discussed a little bit about how the preaching of the prophets came to be written in the Scriptures. Matthew 23:13–39, Jesus excoriates the scribes and Pharisees with seven word, and He laments over Jerusalem – sounding an awful lot like Jeremiah!

Jeremiah 7:1–29, Jeremiah preaches a fiery sermon against false reliance on the temple, at the very gate to the temple! Matthew 23:1–12, Jesus, there in Jerusalem, begins a fiery sermon against the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees.

Jeremiah 5:1–19, a dialogue between the Lord and Jeremiah about the character of the people of Israel. Matthew 22:23–46, the Sadducees spin a story meant to make the resurrection look ridiculous. Jesus sets them straight.
