Episodes

The Last Ride (5/14/26) 24.05.2026

It's the final in-person episode of Five for Fighting Irish (at least for a while), as Ryan, Tyler, and Jack reflect on their times at Notre Dame with the help of a special guest: Tom Rinaldi! From bits to feels, this episode reflects a show that Jacob Irons says "is what Notre Dame is all about."

Upside Down (4/27/26) 24.05.2026

In the final show before senior week, Jack fulfills J.J.’s request with an in-depth men’s tennis NCAA tournament preview, then the two get existential about the Mets. Some South Bend bar talk also fills the conversation. Irons gets a bit unhinged on the call line as well. And Andrew gets to discuss Flyers playoff hockey!

For the League (4/20/26) 24.05.2026

Tyler overthrows Jack “Hollywood” Rinaldi’s hosting efforts. But Jimmy is the big winner as he calls in for a fantasy hockey victory lap. Jack’s birthday is also a discussion topic.

You Get What You Need (4/6/26) 24.05.2026

The vibes are laid back as Murph and Jack return from Easter Break and enter their final full month of college. Tyler joins late from the links to set the stage for a Name That Tune thriller.

Murph After Hours (3/30/26) 24.05.2026

Murph expands his apple crisp agenda with Tyler a late arriver and early goer and Jack busy with bookstore basketball. J.J. and JIrons attempt to fill the gaps by talking about March Madness and softball.

So Back (3/23/26) 24.05.2026

It’s a throwback show as Andrew is in town for a wedding! He tries to instill his “wisdom” on the kids (seniors) through Puckdoku and an NCAA hockey tournament preview.

Pains, Trains, and Automobiles (3/16/26) 24.05.2026

Flight chaos sidelines Jack from this show as Tyler and Murph throw it back to the fall 2023 days. Andrew and J.J. try to fill the void with early calls, bringing up student media travel stories and broadcast debates.

Pardi Hard(i) (3/2/26) 24.05.2026

Tyler, Ryan, and Jack discuss a thrilling senior night OT win over Penn State, upcoming baseball broadcasts that J.J. attempts to sponsor/sabotage, and take Andrew’s call-in “Shotgun of the Game” suggestion.

Talk About It, Talk About It, Talk About It, Talk About It (2/16/26) 24.05.2026

Tyler, Ryan, and Jack do indeed talk about “it” — it being the entire Irish sports landscape (including a surging hockey team!), plus some Olympic hypothetical content later in the show.

Say Goodbye (3/17/25) 24.05.2026

JIrons, Tyler, and Ryan recap Notre Dame’s valiant Big Ten Tournament run as the Jeff Jackson era comes to an end.

Well This Is Awkward (5/6/24) 10.06.2024

Even though we wrapped up the show last week, most of us are still around in finals week for one last ride. We take it by eulogizing the teams eliminated from the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and previewing the second round.

Paint the Ice Green (4/29/24) 10.06.2024

It's the final show with the whole crew in person (at least for now). And for once, we managed to stay on time, giving thoughts on each of the 16 playoff teams before an emotional sign-off.

Murph's Musings (4/22/24) 10.06.2024

Following an electric solo opening by Murph, the gang turns its focus to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but only after recapping the adventure that was JIrons' 21st birthday party. Plus, Tyler takes a break from talking about Cole Knuble and Justin Janicke to get his car washed by them. #ThisIsJournalism

Let's Get Wild (Card) (4/15/24) 10.06.2024

Andrew's Flyers and Jimmy's Red Wings are still in the playoff race heading into the final week -- and Murph's Canadiens (partially) hold their fates in their hands.

Put Me In, Coach (4/8/24) 10.06.2024

We take a break from hockey this week with Andrew's Flyers in freefall and decide to pivot to the Notre Dame baseball and MLB landscape with our discussion -- and grid game (don't worry, we still played Puckdoku, too).

March Sadness (3/18/24) 10.06.2024

It's the best month of the year for NCAA Tournament play -- in basketball. The NCAA Hockey Tournament is approaching, but Notre Dame won't be in it after a season-ending sweep in the first round of the Big 10 Tournament to Michigan. We recap that and don't let March Madness being a different sport stop us from filling out brackets.

Feel the Freeze (3/25/24) 10.06.2024

The squad gives their typical passionate takes on the NCAA Hockey Tournament, plus discusses the always enjoyable topic of sports gambling problems.

Break-ing Point (3/04/24) 10.06.2024

It's the final show until spring break when the squad will relax and consume various random sporting events. Before then, we examine if Notre Dame has any chance in the Big 10 Tournament and talk about the early moves made ahead of the NHL trade deadline.

Face the Music (2/5/24) 10.06.2024

A new theme song constructed by JIrons kicks off this episode of Five for Fighting Irish (twice). The Irish played well against Michigan State but only managed a split. We also have some NHL trades to talk about. Finally, Andrew fails at promoting the show on the ND Admissions Instagram story.

Into a New (Time) Slot (1/29/24) 10.06.2024

Five for Fighting Irish returns from its winter break hiatus, now recording on Mondays at 6 pm rather than Fridays at 9 am. That doesn't prevent the guys from dealing with more technical difficulties, but it doesn't disrupt their typical jovial banter as the Irish settle into Big 10 play.

Winning Is "Good" (2/12/24) 10.06.2024

Tyler's Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, but Andrew, Murph, and J.J. don't think he's enjoying it enough. A bad series for Notre Dame hockey against Wisconsin is part of that, as the Irish don't register on our list of Frozen Four contenders.

Senioritis (2/19/24) 10.06.2024

Notre Dame hockey finished its home schedule with a decent performance against Minnesota when it needed a great one. The NHL also had some marquee events over the weekend, with J.J.'s Devils beating Andrew's Flyers at MetLife Stadium as the trade deadline nears.

Winter is Coming (12/01/23) 10.06.2024

The final Five for Fighting Irish show of the fall 2023 semester covers the lead-in to the always highly anticipated Michigan-Notre Dame series, what NHL surprises are sustainable, and the beloved Puckdoku.

Bring Out the Brooms (11/17/23) 10.06.2024

After taking a week off, Five for Fighting Irish returns stronger than Notre Dame hockey, which just swept Ohio State. Things will get tougher this week as the Irish go back on the road against Minnesota. We also discuss Hobey Baker Award candidates. Plus, an unexpected guest caller joins the show.

Get B1G (11/03/23) 10.06.2024

Notre Dame hockey begins conference play, starting with a trip to Happy Valley against Penn State. How will they fair? Better the San Jose Sharks, we can guarantee that.
