I don't think that I'm the right audience for a chicano noir set during the Zoot Suit Riots but it ain't half bad.  DEATH TO PACHUCO #1 written and lettered by Henry Barajas, art by Rachel Merrill, with colors by Lee Loughridge.

Yeah, that was a pretty fun Halloween romp with Sister Grimm and Scarlet Witch. STRANGE TALES #1 written by Jeremy Whitley, art by Bayleigh Underwood, colors by Jim Campbell, with letters by Joe Caramagna.

I think I need to apologize minorly for thinking this was going to be a literal return to Planet Hulk and not just a metaphorical return to the original story with a quick little reminder that Hulk bleeds cool.  RETURN TO PLANET HULK #1, written by Greg Pak, art by Carlo Pagulayan, inks by Jason Paz, Roberto Poggi and Oren Junior, colors by Chris Sotomayor, with letters by Cory Petit.

Sometimes, all you need is Frank Castle to beat the hell out of people and get beaten the hell out of for a good time. I'm a simple man, with simple needs.  MARVEL KNIGHTS: PUNISHER #1 by Jimmy Palmiotti and Dan Panosian, with letters by Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Tyler Smith.

I love Abnett writing a Guardians book, even if it feels mostly like a stepping stone for the Skrulls and the Inhumans. But hey, good is good.  IMPERIAL WAR - IMPERIAL GUARDIANS #1, written by Dan Abnett and Jonathan Hickman, art by Cory Smith (with Wayne Faucher on inks for him) and Luca Maresca, colors by Espen Grundetjern, with letters by Cory Petit.

Yeah, I should feel bad about a good JMS story about college-era Spider-Man but boy did this really just get me into ranting about how Nick Lowe and Marvel Editorial in general just seem to be lost at sea with that IP. 

With several miniseries spawning out, do we really need an anthology to try and flesh it out even more? No but it's not that bad.  WORLD OF REVELATION #1 with three stories so we’ll get to the creatives when we get to those but first, the solicit.

This book is obnoxious which means I know it's also out there as someone's favorite book of the week. It is definitely not on mine.  LONGSHOTS #1, written by Gerry Duggan and Jonathan Hickman, art by Alan Robinson, colors by Yen Nitro, with letters by Ariana Maher.

It feels like a solid first draft of a story but not entirely sure if its worth reading issue to issue.  LAURA KINNEY - SABRETOOTH #1 written by Erica Shultz, art by Valentina Pinti, colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, with letters by Cory Petit.

So Carol Danvers has a random book in the Revelation line where she's the current Phoenix. Of course because everyone gets to be a Phoenix at one point in their lives at this point. It's not bad though.  BINARY #1, written by Stephanie Phillips, art by Giada Belusio, colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, with letters by Travis Lanham.

I was not actually expecting to really enjoy this but well, here we are.  AMAZING X-MEN #1 written by Jed MacKay, art by Mahmud Asrar, colors by Matthew Wilson, with letters by Clayton Cowles.

Yeah, after that long talk about the DC KO Bracket, we get the first issue... which cuts the last fourth of that bracket talk away completely. Cheers.  DC K.O. #1, written by Scott Snyder, art by Javi Fernandez, interlude art by Xermanico, colors by Alejandro Sanchez, with letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.

A fantastic look at the DC KO Bracket, where you get to hear the Comic Archivist try to explain some of the characters on the list, and how power scaling works in the DC Universe. 

After seeing the preview for this in every Mad Cave book I've covered, I am really happy it's a fantastically fun first issue!  GUNPOWDER PROPHETS #1 written by Justin Jordan, art by Patrick Piazzalunga, colors by Roman Stevens, with letters by Taylor Esposito.

Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes. Legitimately one of the best first issues ever to get you needing to read the rest. Love it!  STARSHIP GODZILLA #1 written by Chris Gooch, art by Oliver Ono, with letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.

The biggest takeaway here is that I really think I need to check out that Netflix He-Man show finally. MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: ANDRA #1, written by Tiffany Smith, art by Andriana Melo, colors by Giuliano Peratelli, with letters by Andworld Design.

Newly-moral immortals have to fight off other immortals. That's actually pretty cool.  KILL ALL IMMORTALS II #1, written by Zack Kaplan, illustrated by Fico Ossio, colors by Thiago Rocha, with letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.

A writer with a trans kid and a penchant for cheating gets hired to reboot a young adult fantasy series complete with a tradcon bigoted current writer. Neat.  THE AUTHOR IMMORTAL #1, written by Frank J. Barbiere, art by Morgan Beem, with letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.

So... Sammi decided she wanted to read the youngling book... I don't know how stoned she was when she chose it but hey, she liked it so that says something. 

Of course, there's a Heritage Month on so that means we'll get some random specials from characters that only get pulled out when that happens. What's even more annoying is that this is REALLY good and showcases why with a good creative team, even a c-lister like White Tiger could have a good ongoing or at least hold her own in a miniseries.  “Reborn” written by Daniel Jose Older, art by Bruno Abd...
