First Baptist Church of Delphi Sermons

Because God has forgiven us an immeasurable debt in Christ, we must forgive one another freely, repeatedly, and from the heart.

Because Christ is present among his gathered people, the church must faithfully exercise his authority in prayerful dependence upon him.

Because the Father cares for wandering sheep, the church must lovingly pursue sinning believers toward repentance and restoration.

Because the Father does not abandon his wandering sheep, neither should the church.

Because Jesus demands ruthless seriousness about whatever destroys souls, his followers must protect one another from sin and pursue holiness at any cost.

True greatness in the kingdom belongs to those who humble themselves like little children.

The Son who is free willingly pays what he does not owe so that his people might become sons and heirs through him.

The Son of Man’s betrayal, death, and resurrection are sovereign, saving, and certain.

Our faith is weak, but our Savior is powerful—and he works for us as we depend on him.

The glory of Christ must be seen, his word must be obeyed, and his path must be followed—even to the cross.

Following Jesus requires losing your life now in order to gain it forever.

The King must die and rise—and we must not resist the plan that saves us.

Christ gives his church the authority to represent heaven on earth by declaring the true gospel and affirming its true confessors.

Christ builds his church on confessors of the true Christ, guarantees its growth, and secures its victory over death.

The blessed confession of every true disciple—and of Christ’s church—is that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Do not be anxious about bread when you should be alert to leaven.

Those who refuse to believe Christ will always demand more evidence, but God has already given his final sign in the death and resurrection of his Son.

Because Christ is full of compassion, he powerfully heals the broken and graciously provides for the needy.

Great faith humbly and persistently clings to Jesus for mercy, trusting him even when his purposes place real obstacles in the way.

Our greatest problem is not unclean hands but a corrupt heart.

Religious 'traditions' can easily become sinful 'transgressions'—especially when they cause us to set aside the clear commands of God's word, and they become a substitute for a true relationship with God by faith.

Because the Son of God has drawn near to heal us completely, he now works through us to bring others to his saving touch.

Jesus reveals himself as the Son of God who comes to his fearful disciples, saves them by his power, and receives their worship.
