Luke 1:26-38: An angel’s announcement changes Mary’s life with the same life-changing that is proclaimed to us all at Christmas: "The Lord is with you.”

John 9: When we encounter Jesus, we are profoundly changed - "Once was, but now...." The blind man now sees. In fact, he sees the Messiah - no, he really sees, not just physically, but spiritually. Notice the progressive terms the blind man uses to describe Jesus at the very end. He really sees (v. 38: "Lord, I believe").

John 8:1-11: Receive grace and give grace, and sin no more

John 6:52-69: We can never reshape Jesus for our own political purposes. We can never follow Him at a safe distance.

Luke 22:14-20: Gathered with the disciples at the last supper, Jesus explains his own death through the meal we celebrate today.

This week’s timeless Old Testament story introduces us to Baruch, a scribe for the prophet Jeremiah who learns about the power and the preservation of the Word of God.

John 4:5-30; 39-42: The woman at the well encounters a Jewish stranger, who she then thinks is a prophet and then declares as Messiah. As we drink from the Living Water, we, too must share with others, for we can never drink from this well alone.

John 15:9-17: What does it mean that Jesus calls you friend? More than a servant, a friend is one who receives the knowledge of your concerns and shares the responsibility that comes with them.

John 2:13-25: God never truly dwells in stones and mortar, but, rather, in the embodied Messiah - Jesus. We are not dazzled to faith, but called to a costly discipleship.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11: In our last of the “Open to the Spirit” series, we’re reminded that the Spirit empowers us with gifts to join the church in service of God’s kingdom.

1 Samuel 16 1-13: In the last of our series, we learn with Samuel to stop looking as man looks so we can see what God wants us to see.

John 2:1-11: In times of crisis, we should always turn to Jesus, be willing to do whatever He commands us to do, and commit ourselves to the One who solves our problem.
