Introduction   Hard times can weaken our faith in Christ. Doubts about his faithfulness creep into our souls and tempt us to drift away from him. Today’s passage gives us powerful reasons to hold fast to our hope in Christ.

Introduction:  Week three of Advent focuses on Joy. In John 15, Jesus tells His disciples how they can experience His joy, which is complete joy.

Introduction:   This Sunday is week two of Advent. Traditionally, the second week of Advent focuses on Peace, which is possible only because of Jesus. We will look at Jesus’ promise of peace for His followers.

Introduction: As we begin the Advent Season, we look at the hope that was given to the people of God before that glorious night in Bethlehem.

Introduction:  Romans 1-11 established that everyone is completely dependent on God’s gift of righteousness for their relationship with God. We must replace the lies of “good enough” with the truth that grace is enough. Paul uses Romans 12-16 to show how this works in our relationships.

Introduction:   It is important to return to the big picture of Romans. There is an overall message that Paul means to communicate in chapters 1-11, which sets up the theme he will communicate in chapters 12-16. This morning we will put together the theme of chapters 1-11.

Scripture Reading : Loren Warnemuende Introduction: Paul concludes the book of Romans with a final exhortation: maintain the integrity of the gospel. Forces will enter the church that will erode the gospel that Paul taught in the book. The church must be alert to this erosion and cling to the gospel.

Scripture Reading: Sunny Kim Introduction Paul continues his conclusion to the book of Romans by greeting people he knows or has heard of.  This was a standard part of a letter in Paul’s day. But this section of greeting should not be overlooked. It reveals important details of what God is doing in the church.

Scripture Reading: Matt Taylor Introduction:  Romans 15:22-33 is part of the conclusion to the book of Romans. Paul turns his attention to his future plans and how his plans involve the Christians in Rome. More importantly, he will use his future plans to reinforce the nature of unity in the Body of Christ.

Scripture Reading: Ben DeBoer Introduction: As we enter the final section of Romans, the subject matter turns personal. In today’s passage, Paul writes about his ministry, which gives us a view of the work of the triune God

Scripture Reading: Taylor Mobley Introduction:  Romans 15:1-13 wraps up the main body of Romans. Paul continues his exhortations about relating to one another when we disagree on debatable issues. He also takes us back to the first section of Romans, showing the interconnection between our relationships with one another and the Gospel. 

Scripture Reading: Sunny Kim Introduction: Romans 14:1-12 encourages us not to allow disputable issues to create disunity. The Apostle Paul follows that up by challenging the Roman readers to put the spiritual welfare of others ahead of their own preferences.

Scripture Reading: Loren Warnemuende Introduction: Paul turns to another way that believers must be transformed. One of the major sources of division between Christians is our opinions on issues where Scripture is not clear. Paul shows that believers must value unity with one another more than their own opinions on disputable issues.

Scripture Reading: Matt Taylor Introduction:   Paul continues to describe what it looks like to be transformed by God. In the final verses of chapter 13, Paul shows that a transformed person is obligated to love every person God brings into their lives.

Scripture Reading: Ben DeBoer Introduction: In chapter 12, Paul starts to give careful instruction for how to live transformed by the gospel. He starts chapter 13 with a brief discussion of how a transformed life relates to government. This is natural since Romans was written to a church located in the heart of authority for the vast Roman Empire.

Scripture Reading: Taylor Mobley Introduction   Romans 12:3–8 focuses on Christians living and working in unity with one another. They understand that each Christian depends completely on grace. Romans 12:9–21 describes the love and goodness that grows in such a fellowship and overflows to the world outside.

Application is not just what we do. Paul first addresses the need to change how we think. Everything else follows from the renewing of our mind.

In today’s passage, Paul wraps up his teaching about Israel and their place in God’s plan. He reveals a mystery that explains why they are resistant to the gospel and how that is a means of His mercy.

Introduction:   Paul has argued since chapter 9 that God is faithful, and His Word is effective. His argument focused on God bringing Jews into a relationship with Jesus. Does this imply that God changed His mind and has rejected Israel as a nation?

Introduction: In the first section of chapter 10, Paul explained that many Jews missed out on the gospel, because they clung to the Gospel of Self instead of the Gospel of Jesus. Now Paul goes a step deeper: Why did they cling to the Gospel of Self?
