In this final session of People and Purpose, we explore Genesis 3, as well as the rest of scripture, to clarify the program of God for his created world, as well as the nature and problem of sin as it pertains to this program.

“No” can be hard to say. We fear disappointing people, and denying ourselves. Yet, “No” is a powerful and necessary word to speak if we hope to experience the best that God has in store for us. Playing God always invites ruin. From Adam and Eve to our own lives, we repeat the same foolish cycle: trusting our wisdom over the Lords. We see this lesson repeat itself in every iteration of the hit franchise, Jurassic Park. Join us as we continue our series, “At the Movies."

Everyone needs a break--from the stress, the gloom, and the hectic pace of everyday life. Rest is meant to impact more than our minds and bodies, though. Our spirit yearns to find rest and be refreshed in God's presence, but finding and protecting this time requires discipline.

In this session, we explore the origin story of the woman, as well as the insights this accounts shares regarding the purpose of humanity and the relationship between the two sexes. We also look at the covenant of marriage, specifically in light of the human calling that runs throughout this chapter of Genesis.

Jesus didn't come to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). As His followers, we're called to imitate His servant heart. Whether it's encouraging a neighbor, serving on a ministry team, or using your unique abilities to bless others, your service matters. It's healthy for the Church and vital to personal spiritual well-being.

In part 4 of our study, we analyze the Garden of Eden and the two trees in its center, looking at their importance in the greater context of the Ancient Near East, and how this information helps us understand their significance.

Tools are meant to improve our abilities when used correctly. This week we explored how Scripture is the ultimate tool God has given us—not just for knowledge, but for building a blessed life. Join us in this message as we continue our sermon series, “A Firm Foundation.”

Sometimes it is easy to get stuck in a rut, and not even realize we are stuck! That applies to our perceptions and awareness of the world around us as well. We get stuck thinking, acting, and living like the world around us, perhaps, without even realizing it. Holy Week, however, is an opportunity to be startled awake by the events surrounding Jesus and the Kingdom he proclaims in the process.
