There are far too many times we get caught up in the important work of helping our brothers and sisters pursue holiness that we come off as only focusing on what they have done wrong. Throughout the Scriptures, we find time and time again examples of God and His messengers deliver stinging rebukes to wayward people but also lifting them up with strong words of love and encouragement. As a redeemed people who must live holy lives unto God but also exist, live, and even serve in the darkness we are under the constant pressure to bow the knee to the prevailing whims of the world. Paul exhorts the Corinthians to be the light of the world and to not allow themselves to be “yoked” to those who would threaten their allegiance to God and their desires to be holy!

The consistent witness of Scripture is for us to be a HOLY PEOPLE, conformed not to the patters of this world but to be conformed to the mind of Christ. So, what does this look like in how we practically live our lives for The Great Commission? Paul gives us a look by using his own life to show us the motivations of his heart and the intentionality of his life.

One of the hardest truths to grapple in Christianity is why would a perfect and sovereign God have mercy on me? Paul calls this, “the mystery,” one that we cannot fully understand. However, since it is nonetheless a reality, we must not live that grace in vanity, but we are to exercise our new freedom in Christ with every fiber of our being!

Jesus saves! Jesus saves from sin, death, and Hell; but, He also saves us from a life that has no purpose or meaning! Today, we are going to explore Paul’s exhortation to live a life that is defined by the Gospel, a life that is defined by hope, and a life that is defined by the power of the transformation of the Gospel!

Our new life in Christ ought to change our worldview because it is Jesus who gave His life as a sacrifice for ours in redemption and it is Jesus who creates us in His image to live as He lived, to love as He loved, and to serve just as He served us.   This is a special day in the life of FBC Neches; today was the first sermon preached by Charlie Cox.

Being ALL IN for Jesus isn’t marked by confession only but also by the way we live our life in private and public. We are called to be a “peculiar people” that, through our actions, point the world to the grace, mercy, and truth of the power of Jesus and Christians to the necessity of the Lordship of Jesus over their lives.
