Fangs Up

No Jay-Z or Nas involved in this Takeover as we saw FAMU fans show up in droves to support the FAMU basketball team on the way to a much needed victory.   We also saw Isaiah Land put on a show at the Senior Bowl and the Bowling team is battling in the SWAC cluster.

The day after National Signing Day FAMU fans have to be super excited with the haul of talent brought to the Highest of Seven Hills.   Nearly all position groups saw some additions in what an obvious arms race is toward Miami.   Also the Women's basketball team fell flat in the fourth while the Men won the rebounding totals and the game.   As always, it's Fangs UP.

While the FAMU Men's basketball team continues to languish in mediocrity, the Women's team pulled out an Overtime victory.  And the rich keep getting richer as the FAMU football team gets two more commitments in what from the outside looking in appears to arms race between FAMU & JSU.   Lets GOOOOOO!

The Football team was the highlight of the weekend on the Highest Seven Hills as an addition was made to the offensive line.  In sharp contrast the Basketball teams went to Mississippi and lost in the first half of a trip to the SIP.   The men scored less than 50 points while the women let what was a close game get away from them by the close of the game.   So what is the...

Every Conference has a floor and a ceiling and after having the FAMU Men's and Women's teams earn much needed victories has me wondering about where this program stands in the SWAC pecking order.

The offseason is here and this is the time that we don't see the players getting work in but when some of the most growth happens, the evidence of this growth is seen as the offers that students receive or don't receive.  Always a great time when coach is on the show and more importantly a learning experience for all those who have students who want to play at the next level.

FAMU's Basketball is now into conference play and while we did not do well in Louisiana the beginning of the season for many other sports gives some fans hope that we will see some success from some of the other spring sports.

The first half of the visit to Louisiana trip has been terrible thus far and some FAMU fans are upset with the current coaching staff.   Also the Football team has had a few commitments to make this team more formidable going into the next season and with a New AD in what can we expect?

I left the Lawson Center after the BCU game asking the same question as many of you?    WTF Happened!    That was not the outcome I anticipated but was the type of attendance that I expected.    The SWAC needs to do a better job of marketing big games and rivalries.

FAMU will start conference play against BCU in both Men's and Women's Basketball. This is a major rivalry which features one of the potential best teams in the SWAC against a team that still has some questions as to who they are.   Also do we have too many Sponsorship groups and why should they be consolidated

As the gauntlet of non-Conference play comes to an end the FAMU basketball teams find themselves having gained critical experience which has been gained due to an extremely schedule.   And the HBCU conferences say that they are committed to working together.

The early signing day has been good to Florida A&M University and the fan base has been given an early Christmas present.   Also the Men's Basketball team put on a decent showing against the University of Kentucky.

The Calm before the storm of Early Signing Day is upon us and FAMU fans are waiting to hear about who is committing to the rebuild.  Along with the pieces to the rebuild FAMU Men's Basketball had a strong showing against an non-impressive Louisville team and despite a Blowout FAMU women's Basketball continues to have some stars.  #FAMU #FangsUp

The FAMU baseball team has been able to sign multiple players, the basketball teams got some W's and the football team is bringing home accolades.

Graduation Pictures abound on the Highest of Seven Hills and this is why you come to FAMU.   We want champions on and off the field, now who will join them and what is upcoming.

FAMU Basketball and Volleyball had a tough week and the SWAC took a major chair shot to the back as Coach Prime leaves the conference.   Advocate or not he was definitely a controversial figure who has those in the HBCU sphere buzzing about how genuine the contributions to HBCU athletics were.

Basketball season has started and at this point you are probably feeling some type of way about FAMU basketball.   The Men's team is rebuilding and the Women's team is on the other side of a rebuild despite the record. It appears that boys may be going one way and the girls will be going the other.

The FAMU football team watched from home as the sports world continues while the Volleyball team awaits to hear who will host the ladies.   While the ladies hold it down in the post season the Womens basketball team put on a good show against South Alabama and the Men's team will be heading to Hog Town to play the Gators.

After a being snubbed in the playoffs, what can we take away in preparation for the next year?  Also how is the Volley Ball team looking for the playoffs?

Playoffs? Playoffs? Which FAMU team made the playoffs and what was the result of the Florida Classic?   A bit of Controversy is always a good thing when you are trying to create talking points for the future but this one is a bit bittersweet with not a complete surprise to Fangs Up Listeners.
