Paul tells us to put to death what is earthly. We need to learn how to fight sin in our daily lives. Paul gives us instruction so that we might now that in the Lord Jesus Christ we are the 'new man,' a new creation in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is in heaven and we are to put our mind on Him. Keeping our mind on heavenly things means avoiding sin and putting godly habits into practice. One day Jesus will return. He is our life and when He returns we will be completely transformed.

Paul warns us not to let others judge us by their human traditions and legalistic rules. We also need to be careful that we do not get pulled away from Jesus Christ by mysticism, asceticism, visions, and other man-made religions that have no power to destroy the sinful flesh.

Only our union with Jesus Christ has the power to put to death the sinful flesh and forgive our sins. In Christ, we have been given a spiritual circumcision where God gives us a new heart through the Holy Spirit. In this way, we share in Christ's death and in His resurrection.

As Christians, we are to continue in the faith just as we received Jesus Christ. We need to realize that Jesus truly God in the flesh. Since God has come down to us, we are not to seek other means of finding God whether man made religions, alternative religions, or other spiritual practices.

Paul struggles for the church and desires to see it grow in the Lord. He had never met the people in Colossae yet he has a heart from them. We too need a heart that longs for others to grow in the Lord. We should desire to see people so grounded in Christ that are not persuaded to leave the Lord.

God's goal is to form Christ in you so that you bear the image of Jesus Christ. This impacts how we think of suffering, our understanding of the gospel, and how we do ministry for the Lord.

We see God's faithfulness in the book of Ruth. Mother's are precious to God. Despite Naomi's sin, God grants her a grandson to carry on her family line. From Ruth's line comes King David and ultimately Jesus.

Jesus wants us to stand firm in the faith and not walk away. The hope of heaven awaits us if we continue in the faith (Col. 1:23). While we are assured that Christ does not lose those who belong to Him, He also warns us to not fall away.

Jesus Christ is truly God therefore we should worship Him. But He also became man to rule within his creation so that He might save us and become supreme King within His creation.

The Bible want us to be praying for one another as believers. We are to pray that fellow believers grow in their spiritual understanding and knowledge of God. We are to pray that fellow believers excel in good works and grow in thanksgiving to God.

Paul was thankful for the church in Colossae even though he had never met them. What does your prayer life look like? Are you thankful for other Christians? Do you give thanks to God when people grow in faith, hope, and love?

Peter preaches the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We need to know and believe that Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead.

The Cross of Christ was a victory over death and sins. Jesus' cross accomplishes our salvation and assures us of the forgiveness of sins for all who trust in Christ. We can have confidence to draw near to God.

God shows us what His love is: not that we loved Him but that He loved us and sent His Son to die for us. Does Christ's love compel us?
