It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that Christians have peace with God and peace with each other.

This week we looked at salvation being a gift from God received through faith. Thus, a Christian's life must be filled with good works dedicated to their Heavenly Father, who is the gift giver.

We continued our series in Ephesians by looking at mankind's sinful nature and beauty of God showing mercy and grace to his children.

In Christian life and ministry, sometimes the best defense is a good offense. In the conclusion to 1 Timothy, Paul charges Timothy to “fight the good fight of the faith,” pointing the young man of God to the glory of risen, reigning Lord Christ for motivation. Paul’s charge is instructive in helping us today to keep fighting and avoid coasting in our faith and mission.

The gospel has deep implications for people at every stratum of society—even slaves. In 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Paul continues giving TImothy his “house rules” for a healthy local church, turning his attention to the relationship between bondservants and their masters. And his instructions, thought unpopular today, are relevant for all of us as slaves of Christ.
