Too Much Tempo Riding? (2010, Embarrassing!) #328 04.10.2021 9:30
Dear Lord, Those 2010 Numbers. I can't even. I've been commenting on the question: "Have I been riding too much tempo this year, now that I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains?" Now that a 4 hour ride equates to 7,000-8,000 feet of climbing, I've seen an increase in some Zone 1 time (switchbacks and some crazy descents); but what about Tempo? Riding tempo is good, but like anything, too much of it is...

From Harvard Business, but SO applicable to cycling training! Another Strength Training Perspective / Follow Up / Tips #324 28.09.2021 11:20
Hello Brendan, So here's my basic guidelines for ST and what works best for me: 1) Warm-up properly and include pre-lifting muscle engagement: light cardio, yoga, band work (hip flexors, glutes, hamstrings, lower back). 2). Learn proper lifting technique: posture, engagement of core, learn Olympic lifts or dynamic lifts with Kettlebells 3). Progessive overload: basic principle of lifti...

I asked Josh to come on and be a little vulnerable; we found some instances at GMSR and his first CX race in DC where his brain got in the way of his body performing. I'm actually so glad that this happened, as we uncovered this and are nipping it in the bud. Take a listen, and hopefully this helps you jump that mental hurdle when you're feeling like, "Oh damn, everyone here looks so FAST! I suck....
Who Should Ride Sweet Spot? An Intro. A lot gets covered here. 120%, 80%, LTD Ducks #309 13.09.2021 11:23
The video drops today, but before you watch it, let me clarify a few points 1. I don't hate sweet spot; it's just that there is an opportunity cost to every workout that you choose. There are better options if you've been training for more than 3 months. 2. Sweet Spot is not a panacea that cures all in just 90 minutes. I used a chart that many associate with my bud Frank and FasCat; this is not a...
