Every Number One Ever
Welcome to Every Number One Ever! A revisionist history of pop music and culture from 1952 to now. Over the next three years, friends and DAA stalwarts Matthew Leonard, Craig Lowe, and Liam Maloney are pruning the UK pop charts from day dot to now. Randomly selected number ones will be fired at them and either banished to the bin for all eternity or raised to the hallowed pantheon of pop after discussion, argument and general nonsense. The discarded songs will be expunged from history and in their stead shall be one randomly selected number two single. Will it be Penny Lane, God Only Knows, Je...

Episode 41 - Easy Easy Easy 21.08.2023 45:01
Some weeks its mediocrity, bins and cucumber castles. Other weeks its huge stonking hits taken down by an immedabin. Some weeks... some golden halcyon weeks we get classics presented to us on a platter. Which will it be this week? All three knowing our luck.
Episode 40 - I’ve Never Sounded As Old 14.08.2023 51:52
This is what this podcast is really about. Discussing the merits and downside of the absolute ditchwater releases of popular music history and taking it seriously?! Boy bands face off against modern pop songstresses, and novelty rock songs compete with forgotten deep cuts. Enjoy!
Episode 39 - Slade in ’84 07.08.2023 57:15
Just when you thought Craig's opinions on popular music couldn't get weirder... welcome to episode 39. We don't understand either.
Episode 38 - Lonnie Donegans Anal Treat 31.07.2023 48:16
With an episode title like that you know this one got a bit silly. All we can do is apologise to Lonnie and his fans. Plus Liam is gunning for one from his hit list of most hated songs to be expunged from the pantheon.
Episode 37 - Crooner Brand X 24.07.2023 54:48
Some weeks we wade through ranks of forgotten and uninteresting tunes from yesteryear. Will this week's episode be one of those? Or will it filled with absolute 80s classic that will inspire debate and discussion? I'll give you a clue, its not the first.
Episode 36 - I’m About To Shoot Myself In The Face 17.07.2023 1:00:00
Tempers flair and other sensationalist hyperbole (hyper bowl) in this week's episode flowing straight out of the ENOE Towers like effluent along a particularly well designed sewage pipe. Can you tell I'm having issues with the plumbing in our upstairs loo? It's on the brain.
Episode 35 - The Brown Farmer 10.07.2023 58:09
Some absolutely massive hitters that you might expect to be simple decisions turn out to be far more controversial than expected. Its just all par for the course here at ENOE Towers. Plus some horrible analogies.
Episode 34 - World Music Flute 03.07.2023 45:42
Its certainly a week of contrasts. We jump from early 00s dancehall to modern day pop icons, from classic rhythm and blues to 90s dance. Its never a dull week here at Enoe Towers. Plus the usual sass and chaos from Craig.
Episode 33 - Scampi Costume 26.06.2023 54:48
The speed of a record, the age I wish I was, the amount of pounds in my bank account, yes it's episode 33! This week we discuss the eternal goddess of pop, crustaceans, and get a peak behind the curtain into ML's home life. What else could you ask for?!
Episode 32 - Lowe on Lowe 19.06.2023 51:22
Last week we achieved a 100% unanimous keep across the board. EVERYTHING went in. The chances of that happening this week? Highly unlikely if some of our pop picks have anything to say about it.
Episode 31 - An Oxo Cube of Craig Hate 12.06.2023 47:12
You can't say we're not eclectic. This time we jump from Scandi sad bangers to novelty 90s schlock to NY punk to disco fantasy. Strap in kids.
Episode 30 - He Cheesy Wanks (or The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Musical Disorders) 05.06.2023 47:11
Another week, another episode. We've kissed and made up after last week's the 'Sandy Thom' incident. Its our pearl anniversary after all!
Episode 29 - Shorts and Hats > Genocidey 29.05.2023 43:31
Another week, another episode. This week we discuss language, we come over all teutonic, and Liam and Craig square up in one of the most argumentative episodes ever. We still love each other though.
Episode 28 - Lost in the Stigwoods 22.05.2023 40:55
This week we get a whack of classic dance, a whiff of the 60s, and a modern classic. Plus, we're really sorry to Speb and all who sail on her. Is she a boat? Or a jet?
Episode 27 - Eat The Rabbit! 15.05.2023 43:33
Right, before we even get into it I feel like I need to explain the episode title. The first song of the episode is something both Matt and Liam love, but half the samples in it frankly bizarre. The title refers to the sample that happens at 2:38 after the horn break. We never knew what it said properly, but it sounds like the episode title. Its ENOE. You know whats in it!
Episode 26 - Anyway, it’s episode 26 08.05.2023 38:43
Thurston! THURSTON! Come back to us! Plus Liam and Craig argue about a film tie and Matt tries to keep the peace.
Episode 25 - A Cigar Advert. 01.05.2023 39:03
Dwell, smell and tell. All the advice you'll ever need. It's our silver anniversary (not china as Liam said). Our union has remained somewhat stable for 25 whole episodes, and long may it continue. And Liam finally gets the jingle he wanted.
Episode 24 - Younaban 24.04.2023 45:37
According to Craig, all it takes is a 'good beat'. You heard it hear first folks! Also featuring quavers, melting 'coochies', and a whole show within a show.
Episode 23 - You’re Just Dirty, You 17.04.2023 41:17
Insert a series of witty yet vague observations about the episode's content here... mention cucumber castle... mention 'going on one'... and mention the kitchen of distinction. All the stuff we've come up with over the first few months of ENOE.
Episode 22 - And I Am Vindicated! 10.04.2023 53:27
I may have overpromised with the rap. However, Craigs three tunes are just... well... there's no superlative that does it justice.
Episode 21 - L.E.D. Zeppelin 03.04.2023 49:16
There are some serious big hitters in this list if you were alive and conscious during the 90s and early 00s (our prime era), and as such there is much to be argued about. For a change.
Episode 20 - Whip In A Look Of Egg 27.03.2023 57:49
What is the plural of fizz? Fizzes? Fizé? Fie? Fi? And all the Nuremberg facts you can shake a stick at! Lets dive into another week of number ones!
Episode 19 - A Moment of Silence 20.03.2023 56:20
I was in this recording session, and frankly even I don't know who is dead or alive after listening to this pod. God help us. Rest in Peace... maybe.
Episode 18 - S Club Asda 13.03.2023 54:36
Liam's ongoing mission is thwarted by the majesty of arguably one of the greatest number one singles of all time - there's no way that wouldn't be unanimous. You know which one we're talking about. That one. No, THAT one. Still unsure? Listen and find out.
Episode 17 - Pleasure She Wrote 06.03.2023 44:08
One of the giggliest corpsiest episodes ever for which we can only apologise. We'd got very worked up. But its a diverse collection this week. We've got some teenage pop rock, EDM divas, some lesser disco, awful covers, and the sound of Craig angrily scribbling his resignation note.
