For the last few weeks, we have been learning about the child that was born, the son that was given in Isaiah 9. This week we examine the titles that Isaiah gives him.

The first line of Isaiah 6 let's us know that a child will be born, a son given. the next line, along with verse 7, will describe his dominion.

About 700 years before Jesus was born God promised a child would be born, a son would be given. As we prepare our hearts for this Christmas season, we examine who this child is.

In Genesis chapter 22 we see that Abraham has finally learned to trust God. He doesn't hold anything back, but walks in faith. The next three chapters close out the Abraham story. In this chapters we learn that trusting God means taking the next right step and trusting God with the rest.

In Genesis 15 we learn that Abraham believed and God counted it as righteousness. Just because Abraham has been made right with God, doesn't mean he is all the sudden perfect. Abraham will continue to grow in faith and continue to mess up. But every time he messes up, God graciously leads him back.

Abraham and Lot take two different paths with two different results. Yet, Peter calls Lot a righteous man. After reading Genesis 19, how can anyone call Lot a righteous man? The answer gives us hope.

As we wait on God, the temptation is to help Him out. Maybe He doesn't know the issue, maybe He needs a little help. But if we are being honest, our helping God is often really us just trying to control things. This isn't new for us, Abram and Sarai struggled with "helping" God as well.

God makes a contract with Abram. God does something unique to ensure the contract is fulfilled.

God calls Abram to a new land. Without knowing where, Abram heads out, but as soon as he arrives there is a famine.

As Americans we value independence. We like to think we are self-sufficient. The people of the ancient city Babel desired independence as well, that is why they built a city and a tower.

Have you ever had to wait on God? What did that feel like? How did God come through? During the flood narrative Noah has to wait on God.

A montage is a technique used in film to convey a lot of information is a short span. You can think of genealogies a montage in the Bible.

Sin will always have graver consequences than you can imagine. Adam and Eve would have never imagined their rebellion would lead to one son killing the other. Yet the speed at which sin spread was shocking.

Is God good? Can He be trusted? How you answer these questions will dictate how you live, with faith or with fear.

Have you ever been wronged? How did you react? Is it ok to pray for justice? Those are a few questions David answers in Psalm 35.

What you do you fear? How do you handle fear? In Psalm 34 David gives us instruction on how to handle fear.

As believers we are commanded to praise God. This psalmist tells us why.
