Send us Fan Mail Mary was a woman who sat at the feet of Jesus and listened to his words.  The culture of the day (and maybe even today) would have condemned her for it.  According to her sister Mary's role, as a woman, was to be busy helping with the preparations not listening to teaching.  Jesus, however, said Mary had chosen the good part, and it wouldn't be taken away from her.
