Happy Thanksgiving!! Pastor Travis leads us this morning in our Thanksgiving Devotional.

Proverbs 27:8 has some direction for those who feel a strong desire to leave the nest. So often people who are a part of a "nest" family are filled with unsettled desires to look and leave for "greener grass" elsewhere. This often brings only more unsettledness. Do you have FOMO?

Proverbs 27:5-6 contains a well know lesson: It is a good thing to have someone(s) who care for you enough to rebuke and wound you with correction. Why would this be missing from our lives?

Proverbs 27:4 says that no one can stand before the jealousy/envy of another. The writer of this proverb would say the most destructive and harmful of these three dark desires is jealousy. Why is jealousy so harmful?

Pastor Travis teaches from Luke 5:27-32. Jesus is the great physician who has come to heal the world through the power of the gospel.

Proverbs definitely encourages us to plan and prepare for our expected futures, but we also have Prov. 27:1 which tells us the proper attitude to have about our futures.

The malicious person expends a lot of energy and focus attempting to trap or harm their target prey. But Proverbs 26:27 assures us that these wicked people will fall into their own traps. Does this happen in the real world?

Proverb's editor but Prov. 26:23-26 together is a warning to us all. These four verses are strongly worded warnings about a specific type of person who disguises himself as a good friend but in the end is wicked.

Proverbs 26:17 gives a vivid picture of someone inserting themselves into a dispute between others and getting "bitten" for it. Yes we are called to be peacemakers, but peacemakers are required to be wise and careful. What motivates us to insert ourselves into quarrels, fights, or disagreements that are not our own?

Monday morning's devotional comes from Romans 5:12-17 and the subject of Jesus as the second Adam.

Proverbs 26:12 compares two people and says that one of them (wise in own eyes guy) has less chance of becoming righteously wise than the other (a fool), who has poor chances to begin with. Why is it so hard for them? How can we become more righteously wise?

Pastor Travis continues in his series on Luke. This morning is on Luke 5:12-16. Jesus shows his power to heal and to us the power of touch.

Proverbs 26:6 is a strongly worded proverb instructing the wise on how to send an important message. Messages were hard to get to people in ancient days; often messengers were sent and they represented the sender with a verbal message. Wisdom says, don't send a message via a fool; it might be expedient, but has the potential of dire consequences. We can all evaluate how well we send important mess...

Proverbs 26:4-5 might seem to contradict each other, but isn't it cool that the book's editors put these two important understandings right next to each other for us to think about. There is a time not answer a fool and there is a time to do the opposite.
