A relationship with God includes God having LORDSHIP over us. Every day, we should ask the question, "How can I glorify You today?"

When the distractions come (and they will), do we have enough Jesus in us to combat them? Or will those distractions distract us to the point of creating a reprobated mind?

You can't pay preachers enough to preach the Gospel. Jesus paid every single preacher IN FULL for the preaching of the Gospel. Paul reminds us to check the motives of leaders who emphasize payment of their service ABOVE the blessing of the soul of a man to receive The Kingdom.

Paul reminds us that while life is indeed life-ing, we should rejoice because we not only have peace with God, but also the peace OF God.

Paul's random instruction to three members of the Philippian church reminds us that we will inevitably have conflict, but it doesn't mean our relationships are unhealthy because of it.

We all have our part to play in God's mission field. We must stay focused on glorifying Him, for we never know who God is trying to reach through us as we each work out our own salvation.

Opposition is inevitable. Paul reminds us that we must stand flat-footed on and stay anchored to the Rock, knowing that trials will come, and their arrival is a sign of progress in advancing the Gospel, not of failure.

Why are we doing all this? Why do we worship, attend church, read our Bibles, tell others of the Good News, let our lights shine, and conform our lives to model Christ? Paul reminds the Philippian church (and us) that we should be active participants in glorifying God in all we do.

As we begin a study of Philippians, Paul begins by telling us how grateful he is for the church at Philippi and prays that they continue to glorify God in all they do, setting the foundation for us to be mindful of what motivates us to worship Jesus.

Jesus knows us so well, He knows exactly what we need to hear AND how we need to hear it to move us toward Him and not away from Him. The Prodigal Son narrative reveals to us the love of a Good Father uniquely dispensed on His children for the purpose of godliness and deeper love for Him.

The Spirit shows us that the love of a mother for her demon-possessed daughter pushed her to overcome being labeled a curse, just as Jesus became a curse so that we may be blessed with redemption.

We may call Him Savior, but is He truly our Lord? We are challenged to assess ourselves and determine who truly sits on the throne of our hearts.

The Spirit reminds us that if we are not careful, our complacency in Jesus may cause us to compromise on the faith.

Why should anyone feel bad for Satan? Jesus reminds us that we should not celebrate someone being condemned to Hell, not even our greatest adversary.

The story of Cain is a story of us: whenever someone gets what we wanted from the Lord, what kind of spirit do we carry about us?

One situation can cause us to hate an entire people group, casting judgment upon a host of individuals who had nothing to do with the one person's pain cast upon us. This week, the Spirit reveals how unchecked pain can have devastating consequences.

The "Jezebel Spirit" is a myth. In reality, all of us have the ability, given the right motivation, to ruthlessly decimate anything standing in our way of what we want. And we need a Savior to turn that reckless abandon in the right direction.

Judas's betrayal of Jesus highlights the madness of our hearts and our willingness to betray a Jesus who doesn't fit the box we place Him in. We need a Savior to save us from our watered-down version of Him.

We are like Pilate who, when the pressure is on, have to decide what we are willing to give up to do the right thing. We need a Savior to give us hearts so deeply satisfied with Him that we are willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to do what is right.

Manipulation only requires the right motivation. This week, Delilah's betrayal of Samson reveals to us that at any time, our desires can lead us to do things out of character and out of step with God. We need a Savior not just to save us, but to rewire our desires in a way that glorifies Him above all else.

Pharaoh's God-hardened heart challenges us to look within ourselves and ask the Spirit whether we have become the villain in His story through pride, arrogance, abuse, worldly sorrow, and fear.
