This week continues the Last Castoff's journey, as they continue seeking out answers for what the Changing God was up to with his resonance chamber... The one we crashed into like a big ol' meteor. We head through the Valley of Dead Heroes and the Sanctuary at Miel Avest before ending up at The Bloom, a city within a dimension-spanning organism. We talk about the rest of the game, highlighting as...

Rocket Knight Adventure is a good game. Its graphics are big and bold, the platforming has a good amount of variety, and the combat is flawed but not worthy of a dragging. So we talk about the game's merits instead, before turning to the question: If humans worked on Gremlins rules, could we find love?

This week's episodes: Strawman, Dad's Note, Sausage, and Tainted Eve.

The image of a person with an eyeball for a head is very good. That's the nice thing we'll say about the Residents. But Bad Day on the Midway underlines some fundamental problems we have with them, since it's unpleasant to look at and listen to, and not to a very interesting artistic result. You poke around a demented carnival amusement park learning about mentally ill people, killers, and racists...

This week we resume Ranni's path, heading through Renna's Rise and finding that she has turned herself into a much smaller doll. After we help her fashion an acorn into a house, we head our third and final Eternal City, Nokstella, on the hunt for the Baleful Shadow... A wolf-man assassin sent by the Two Fingers to halt Ranni's mutiny.

This week we learn more about Walt's past when we meet Elliot and Gretchen Schwartz, his former colleagues and business partners. The problem? Walt left the company, because of pride, and the Schwartzes became extremely rich. Now, Elliot is offering to pay for Walt's treatment, and once again, Walt's pride will cause things to go horribly. Additionally, Badger shoots Jesse with a crossbow. We woul...

Kole, Ben, David, and Jala talk about Pokemon Scarlet, The Case of the Golden Idol, Atari 50, and much more! The Grind: Jala: Persona 5 Royal. Pokemon Scarlet. Ben: God of War: Ragnarok. The Case of the Golden Idol. David: Kenshi. Kole: Signalis. Bonelab. Atari 50. The Multiplayer: What’s your first video game memory? The End Boss: Starfox artist is working on a new game. Marvel’s Midnight Suns is...

What is the value of one game? There are big shoes to fill and then there are comically huge shoes that can be made into houses for little old ladies. That was the job of Tides of Numenera, an excellent short story compilation that fails to capture the emotional resonance of it's predecessor. Here us talk about the generalities and Sagus Cliffs in this episode before hitting the end game next week...

In this quarterly special episode, we gather up some leftover questions and topic prompts and answer them so they'll stay answered. Topics include overwhelming games, the ethics and effects of emulation, lonely games, and many, many more.

Who is Seymour, and where is he going? What does he want when he gets there? We can only answer one of these questions, but we barely care. Seymour catfished us, saying it was a game about a little potato man, only for us to learn that it's actually another horrible Dizzy game with the serial numbers filed off.

This week's episodes: Tooth And Nail, Binge Eater, Guppy's Eye, and Crystal Key.

We last left off in the Nameless Eternal City, casting our eyes upward to where the roots of the depths could take us. Today, we climb those roots and find ourselves in the shadow of Godwyn, the first of the demigods to die. And there, we resolve the fates of some other Tarnished, namely Fia and D's twin, in order to gain a new mending rune and open a possible ending for the game.

We're back X-Friends! This week we're covering a slight three issues of Uncanny X-Force (8-10). Apologies for my voice on the podcast, I finally got the virus that's been plagueing the world for the last three years. Reminder that you can read along with and ahead of the show by subscribing to Marvel Unlimited (we don't get paid for you doing that, so it's not an ad, it's just a cool service). You...

We had intended to make this month's topic VR, but instead we said almost everything we wanted to say during the Half-Life: Alyx episode. So, instead, we take even more of your questions before reading your thoughts about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, SUPERHOT, and Half-Life: Alyx. This episode's highlighted project is Waystar Corncob , a podcast that's about both I Think You Should Leave and Successi...

How does an RBMK nuclear reactor blow up? We spend this extra-long episode of Unfilmable trying to find out, as we watch HBO's Chernobyl miniseries. While not categorized as a work of horror, it's impossible to not be terrified by what is shown. And the way the real-life events are fictionalized here and turned into a narrative pulls not only from horror film, but goes all the way back to Lovecraf...

This week's episodes: Tropicamide, Card Reading, Quints, and Tainted Blue Baby

Simon the Sorcerer is a rude teen who likes boobs, doesn't know what's happening around him, and never stops talking. This, his improbable second adventure, draws him back into the fantasy world because he can't stay out of containers designated for clothing. Is there zero joy to be had in a Simon the Sorcerer game? We don't know. But this one just never... stops... talking. Why should a joke ever...

While acting in the service of Ranni the Witch, we have uncovered a great deal about the Night of Black Knives... including the very weapon that did the deed. With the cursemark portion from Ranni's mortal body, we now turn toward D, Rogier, and Fia to learn where the other half of it went. This draws us deep underground to a ruined, nameless city with a thick miasma in the air. The stench of deat...

Things had to slow down eventually, and with Krazy-8 out of the way it's time for a breather. Walt spends this episode dealing with the fallout from admitting that he has cancer, as Skyler tries to convince him that it's worth pursuing treatment no matter the cost. Meanwhile, Jesse is unable to stay in his plausibly haunted house, so he returns to a family that very much doesn't want him around. W...

Kole, Ben, David, and Dennis talk about God of War: Ragnarok, SIGNALIS, Somerville, and much more! The Grind: Ben: Somerville. God of War: Ragnarok. Returnal. David: SIGNALIS. Kenshi. Shadow Over Loathing. Kole: Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose. Walkabout Mini-Golf: Myst. Dennis: Deep Rock Galactic. Magic the Gathering Arena: The Brothers’ War. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The Multiplayer: What...

Tarzan: Untamed is a kiddie platformer that's not dissimilar to Crash Bandicoot, where the ape man declares war on all of Quebec. Neither Gary nor Kole can really tolerate a Tarzan. His story bores us. So instead, Gary torments Kole with the absolute dumbest fan theory that's ever cropped up on God's green Earth.

This week's episodes: Spin To Win, Vasculitis, Giant Cell, and Kid's Drawing

It's time to do a mini-WOFF! about one of the funniest games we've played recently: The Looker. It's a candid and scathing parody of The Witness, taking place on a very similar island, and having you use a pen to solve placemat mazes while listening to faux-deep audio recordings. We stay on topic throughout this one and spoil quite a bit, so consider going and playing The Looker for yourself . It'...

We have retrieved the sacred treasure of Nokron for Ranni the Witch, completing the first major leg of her quest. As a parting gift, she gives us a strange statue before heading off along the path of an Empyrean. This episode concerns what we do with that statue, and checking in with Ranni's crew to learn more about the fate that was laid out for her, and why she might wish to throw it off.
