Dispatching the 118

For the first time in a while, Lone Star didn't make Owen an insufferable addition to the story, in fact, his story was fun and engaging. Laura and Mads break down the rest of the episode and discuss how frustrating it was that both episodes contained unsolicited singing.

Laura once again didn't have time or energy to watch Lone Star, but all is not lost because Mads did all the grunt work. Meanwhile, on 9-1-1 Buddie is making it very hard to focus on anything else.

Mads and Laura break down Lone Star from the last two weeks. Overall they enjoyed the episodes but still had some issues with each one. Did you prefer the Owen is a gigolo episode or the Marvin/Mateo episode?

Laura and Mads go feral over ONE scene with Buck and Eddie while also discussing the dismay they feel about Bobby's stories always being about addiction. Meanwhile, on Lone Star, Marjan fights for her life which makes for some great moments and ONE very FRUSTRATING detail mixup.

We started our discussion with 9-1-1 Lone Star because 9-1-1 was so good we wanted to focus most of our time on that episode. Laura and Mads have some strong opinions about where the story of Buck is going. If only we could say the same about whatever this episode of Lone Star was. 

Kat joins Mads and Laura to discuss her interview with Oliver Stark and that intense Season 6 mid-season opener. Mads and Laura then discuss the beauty of Lone Star when Owen isn't the focus at all.

Mads and Laura discuss the highest-rated -- by them -- episode this season. Was the twist a decent plot device? Why does Owen insist on doing these speeches? And how do we feel about Minear's comments regarding the last couple of episodes? 

Episode 5 is marginally better than the rest of this season so far -- at least according to Mads. Laura doesn't completely agree, but overall there is much more positive to say about this episode because of Grace, Nancy, and Marjan.

Laura and Mads rate this episode the lowest rating they have ever given an episode of any show. There was so much wasted potential with every storyline brought up this week. This episode also raises some big questions about whether or not TK and Carlos are really that great of a couple overall.

Laura and Mads felt pretty middle ground about this episode. We enjoy the chaos of crazy caused by the Santa Ana winds, but can we please stop making Bobby's addiction his only personality trait?

Laura has finally watched an episode! Mads and Laura talk about why this episode is probably one of the better ones of the whole series. The beginning of our favorite couple definitely plays into it.

Laura returns to discuss with Mads the merits of an episode she only had time to read the recap for. The discussion is still solid - for what the episode was.

Justine fills in for Laura to discuss Buck's new life change with Mads. But, not before first discussing the changing dynamic between Eddie and Christopher. Also, Hoover better become the 118's firehouse dog or else. 

A shorter episode than most, but Laura and Mads still dive into the heart of the episode. Which isn't as centered on the story as you think -- yes we are talking about Bobby -- again. Find out how they feel about the story and outcome overall. 

Mads and Laura rage against Ryan Murphy, Tim Minnear, et al regarding the treatment of Hen and Athena. They are also completely shocked by that ending and are willing to give the show a good review IF 9-1-1 can pull off the impending story.

Laura and Mads found they had quite a bit to talk about with regards to the episode -- erm we mean Buddie Family Dinner. All in all, this was a halfway decent episode to discuss and get Season 6 off and running. (Though that intro sequence leaves much to be desired.)

Basically, this show needs to learn how to write better for the characters they have. What are you most excited to see this season?
