Dinner and a Bible, aka the funny things my kids say in front of Jesus.

Today we look at family dynamics. It might surprise you that hard times maybe the best of times.

The Bible is clear that being strong comes from going through rough times.

I wanted to be be an astronaut as a child. Maybe my son might take the needed steps to explore the stars.

People who believe they deserve more than others, and even above the law, are getting caught every month. Sadly, we need to make sure our own hearts are protected.

The Bible is fairly clear on what would happen to Jerusalem. Some people use it to scare young Christians today but it’s misunderstood. The new wars today is about resolving your personal faith. The conversion and baptism and what it means to us. What we do with it when stress, and yes, when real war and conflicts overwhelm us.

When I read this passage as a kid, and I knew I didn’t have nice clothes, I felt sad. Thankfully, this is not as simple as wearing the wrong clothes.

We talk about how change happens. My son devolved into a kid with doubt. That he can’t change. Ever. That’s simply not true. We miss the miracles if we doubt the change. If we doubt the miracles in our own lives. For me, it was the ability to just find a date and a ride to my prom. LOL, trust me, that was a miracle.

Adam and Eve didn’t stand a chance against the serpent. They didn’t understand consequences. As we grow older we go from thinking 5min ahead to 5 years ahead. This is how we can find peace today, planning and understanding consequences and true fruitful rewards.

These scriptures show the elevation from human teachings to Godly teachings.

In 6th grade I prayed for a few things beyond protection. I prayed for friends to spend a lonely summer with. Behold God delivered! Best summer ever in the concrete jungle of Chicago.

So this was a last minute sermon. I also showed him that the Bible demands I discipline my children or I become the fault of the family.

It’s hard to see oneself as arrogant but even harder to change it.

Yikes. When are we going to stop being Pharisees and Sadducees? Where is the heart? The motive? The Spirit?

People pleasing is not Godly. We finally found proof in the Bible :)

We taught weight lifting exercises for the kids to grow strong. They hated it, took time out of their day. So we discussed how being Strong is a request from God himself and that it leads to courage.

You need to see the patience of God to see his power…

The Bible loves friendship and family. People do grow apart though and we need to understand that’s a normal part of growing up.

Who ever you are, God wants a relationship with you. To touch your soul, to be your guide, it’s us who run and hide like Adam and Eve.

There is a heaven on earth. A path to a joyful life. God wrote it down in the most depressing book of all…

It’s traumatic to see Isaac being sacrificed by his dad Abraham. What was going through Isaac’s mind? Read the words describing Jesus on the cross. The story is the same. Except in the Jesus story, there was no stopping the killing.

This makes frustration into a whole new level of “Seriously?”

The story of Abraham finding mercy for a city as well as the odd actions of Lot and his wife is more than meets the eye. Adults and Teens only for this podcast.

A lot of questions on this part of the Bible. Maybe Sarai liked being in the Haram? Back then, woman were property. Then again why the blight to Pharaoh’s fields? He didn’t know Sarai was the wife of Abram. Maybe she prayed to be free? No matter how messed up we are as people, God’s plan was the children of Abraham and Sarah will be the chosen…but how odd is this story. Gives me hope for my flawed...

God seems mean at times. God seems insensitive. That’s what the devil wants you to think so you abandon the Bible.
