Have you wondered as you've read through the gospel: Does God Heal Today? The gospels are 20% to 30% stories about God's healing power. Does that still happen today? That's the question that we wrestled with this Sunday!

Enigma was a tool that the Axis powers used to scramble their messages into codes. Only when the Allies discovered keywords in the message were they able to crack the code. Sometimes, reading the Bible is like reading a scrambled message because we don't have all the cultural and historical nuances. This week, we used a code word to unpack 4 stories in Matthew's gospel!

Theologian William Barclay tells us that with Matthew there is always a reason he orders the stories in his account of the life of Jesus. So why is this story here? Let's find out. This week we concluded our fall series with the third and final goal of apprenticeship to Jesus: To Do What He Did. No one apprentices to be a plumber or electrician to only be with a journeyman or to know how to do it. They do it so they can also "do the stuff". The same is true of Jesus's apprentice. “…whoever is fully trained will be like their rabbi.” This week, we explored the second goal of apprenticeship to Jesus: Become like Him. For us to do that, we need to be fully trained. What does that mean?

Apprenticeship to Jesus requires us to order our lives around 3 goals: Be with Jesus, Become like Him and Begin to do what He did. This week, we looked at the first goal: Be with Jesus. How can we be with Jesus today? Let's talk about it!

We can become people capable of extravagant love, who exude inner peace, who live with radical generosity. But here’s the key: we need the right teacher. Enter Jesus of Nazareth.

The ministry of bodybuilding is about each one of us playing our part—using our gifts, big or small, to build up the church, to build each other up, and to continue the mission of Jesus here in Delisle and beyond.

Even in the midst of the barren field, hope shines brightly on the horizon. The Prophet Joel reminds us of this profound truth in his final three poems.

Can hope be found in a desolate field? Can we find hope in the midst of pain? Absolutely we can because of what Joel calls "The Day of the Lord". Take a listen.

As you drive by the field being harvested, ask yourself the question: what would I do if there was no harvest? What would I do if the things I rely on were gone? What then? Join us as we look for hope in hopeless situations.

We come to the end of our journey through the Sermon on the Mount (at least for now). Listen to see what Jesus' invitation at the Sermon is.

In the final chapter of the Sermon on the Mount Jesus turns our attention back to how we related to one another and he says, "you hypocrites" when we judge each other! Strong words! Listen why!

Jesus told his disciples, "Do Not Worry". Easier said then done. However, if Jesus wants us to live a life free of worry then it must be possible.

Treasure is what we value! Jesus wants to make sure that his disciple know what true treasure is.

We all receive bad news in this life. That's something we can all relate to but how is the gospel of Jesus good news in the middle of the bad things we experience? Let's wrestle with that question!

Jesus is really interested in the hearts of his disciples. In this week's teaching, we focused on our heart posture when it comes to how we love, serve and worship God. VERY CHALLENGING!

We concluded Matthew chapter 5 (finally, lol) with the two hardest of the six case studies—the ones that end with the line, "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." How is that even possible?!
