Rock Me To Sleep - Tomás Simón and dacca 22.09.2017

Tomás approached me about doing a collaboration on my Open Collaboration track "Falling Asleep": https://soundcloud.com/dacca/falling-asleep-remix-open I'm always open for collaborations, so naturally I said yes! I'm so happy with Tomás's sublime guitar and mix...thank you my (new) friend! Please make sure that you check out Tomás' SoundCloud music here: https://soundcloud.com/tomassimonmusic

Genghis Khan 17.09.2017

Well, I drew inspiration from two of my earlier tracks to create this piece: https://soundcloud.com/dacca/beltane https://soundcloud.com/dacca/harmony The entire composition is made from Apple loops. The mix of musical styles (according to Apple) is Irish, English, Bosnian, "Eastern" (whatever that means) and Chinese. In my mind I was telling the story of the Mongol invasion into Eastern Europe, w...

My Spring Is Your Autumn 15.09.2017

Just look at that cute young koala! I remember being young once.... Actually, I was thinking about how for many of my family and friends it's their Autumn (or Fall), whilst for Australians it's Spring. I could have tried to express the explanation in scientific terms (a combination of Earth's orbit and axial tilt)...but no. Something simpler, more appealing, I thought was needed. So, I was looking...

Cassini 15.09.2017

As we say farewell to the Cassini space probe, I thought I'd try to capture the moment by celebrating NASA's achievement in music. ------ Image: Artist's concept of Cassini and Saturn, NASA

Spawn Of Dagon 10.09.2017

Inspired by the works of H.P Lovecraft, and The Deep Ones that inhabit the seas around Kingsport and Innsmouth. This one was hungry!

Dance Music For Insomniacs 09.09.2017

Since my car accident a few weeks ago I've had a lot of headaches (panadol/paracetamol largely ineffective), and my sleep patterns have changed. I didn't listen much to SoundCloud much either, and my creativity was subdued a little. In fact, for the whole of last week I had headaches 24x7. I would go to bed with headaches, and wake up with headaches. Today I took some ibuprofen at about 3.30am and...

We Can't Rely On Superheroes To Save The World 05.09.2017

I loved the playful nature of the main synth, and got thinking about superheroes. As I kid I bought Marvel comics, but I watched everything, DC or Marvel. How many time have you watched superheroes save the world...on screen? And how many times have superheroes saved the world? I think The Hulk looks particularly annoyed with the title of my track...which is great as he was one of my early favouri...

Early Morning Fog 02.09.2017

I seem to be in the mood for creating calm ambient pieces at the moment. I hope you enjoy my latest effort!

Early Universe 30.08.2017

I was imagining the early universe, as the light first burst out of the absolute darkness. This is after the big bang - the universe was baby only 200 million years old. Yes, the big bang happened in absolute darkness. Matter forms, light bursts forth. Order emerges from primordial chaos. ------------ Image: "Stars Spring Up Out of the Darkness", JPL, NASA. 2006.

There Is No Grey (There Is Only Black Or White) 29.08.2017

This is a statement of philosophy as well as fact. Examine any black and white photograph closely enough, and you don't find any grey pixels...they're all either black or white. Computing is a very binary world, a bit is either on or off. Mind you, that ignores qubits (I'll let you Google that one) which are both ON and OFF at the same time. But is the world black or white? I'm NOT talking about r...

The Metal Head Monk 26.08.2017

I had this odd idea to try and combine heavy metal and Gregorian chanting, and so this track is the result. There are two manually played Gregorian chant tracks, and a manually played Toccata organ, and everything else is Apple loops composed and arranged by me. In my mind the monk is part of group of monks chanting, but in his heart and his metal head he's rocking out like in some Terry Gilliam f...

Reflect 25.08.2017

A dark and moody piece, but with a reflective mood I feel. No particular reason why, it was just what happened when I started creating music in Logic Pro X one evening. All synths and pads played manually. ---------------- Artwork: Upstream by mislyd on DeviantArt

Infinity 19.08.2017

I had a bad car accident a week ago and, even though nobody was seriously hurt physically...it really knocked me about emotionally. Divide nothing into one and you get...infinity. I wanted to escape into nothing, but realised it's easier to escape into infinity...with music. Infinity is a more comforting thought than nothing. All synths played manually in Logic Pro X. ------------------- Check it...

Pit Fiend 17.08.2017

You don't want to encounter the pit fiend....nasty! If you enjoyed this track, try this: https://soundcloud.com/dacca/demon-prowler

Welcome To The New Dark Ages 16.08.2017

There used to be days when I would despair at our 'world leaders', and where they are leading us. Now I despair pretty much all the time. -------------- Image: Michal Osmenda - "Dark Ages" https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dark_ages_(281346032).jpg

You Left Your Mark On Me 12.08.2017

Another Apple loop composition. This time I'm mixing blues, latin bass, 70s keys and drum kits, and a mix of rock riffs and solos. Songs made from Apple Loops are always quite challenging...it's not the music (which I normally lay down first)...it's making it believable as a meaningful song, within the available loops for each "voice" of of which has only a small set of lyrics. I set out to create...

Do You Party? 11.08.2017

The world may well be about to end but the real question is...Do You Party? This is one of my Apple Loop compositions, featuring reggae and traditional African instruments and various rock guitar loops. -------- If you enjoyed this track you might also enjoy: https://soundcloud.com/dacca/i-reggae

Space Between Us 10.08.2017

The vocal and ambient keys are from Novation Launchpad pads arranged by me, with muted bass, upright bass, drum kit and rock guitar all played manually in GarageBand.

I'm Walking Out Of The Badlands 06.08.2017

I was imagining a futuristic survival story, with a solitary figure walking out of a vast nuclear wasteland. Either it's not so radioactive anymore, or our survivor is resistant to radioactive damage...or a bit of both. It might seem like a bleak idea, but there it is...someone survives! That's where the beauty in my track comes from. I created the futuristic sounds first using a couple of very ol...

Demon Prowler 04.08.2017

I created this track using some awesome Novation Launchpad metal pads, then added the devilish sound effects, a ThumbJam metal guitar track (the one with the guitar scorches), then added some dark rock guitar hooks from GarageBand to add some rock rhythm - both guitars played on manual settings. If you liked Demon Prowler, try this: https://soundcloud.com/dacca/pit-fiend

Magic of darkness 30.07.2017

I got some new Novation Launchpad pads in a recent sale so thought I'd create some dark rock sounds for you. I play GarageBand roots and rock guitars, plus a rock drum kit. ------------------ Image taken from: 'Magic of darkness' by roltirirang, DeviantArt https://www.deviantart.com/roltirirang/art/Magic-of-darkness-black-108184122

Lose Yourself 30.07.2017

I lost myself in the music as I created this track, so I invite you to forget everything and just listen. All synths played manually in Logic Pro X. -------------- Image taken from "Alone", by PiConsti on Flickr

Better To Burn Out Than To Fade Away 29.07.2017

This is one of Apple loop compositions. I just wanted an excuse to hear those chunky and distorted rock guitar sounds with those dirty beats! I hope you enjoy it! ------------------------- Abandoned Railroad Car | by Rennett Stowe, Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/tomsaint/9389004393

Funk You 26.07.2017

Whaddaya mean monkeys can't paint? Funk you!

The Beautiful Gastropod 23.07.2017

Say the word "slug" to people and repellent images are conjured into their minds. But Glaucus atlanticus is the beautiful gastropod! This track uses a Logic Pro X hip hop drummer track customised by me, and a collection of manually played Logic Pro X synths.
