Cut and Splice: Reviewing, discussing and analyzing movies

We go a little political on this one due to Matt's interpretation which Gil tries to challenge. We have a 14 minute review before going into Spoilers. We also go through Jason Reitman's filmography as well as bring up South Park and their approach to satire. There are some mild audio bumps here and there but we get through them.

At the tail end of our Wild Strawberries recording we discussed some of the other master filmmakers from Bergman's period and wanted to share it as a bonus episode. We also bring up the age old subject of finding balance between visuals and dialog.

We've been meaning to discuss this masterpiece ever since we started the podcast and finally got there. We give a 24 minute review before getting deep into analysis with spoilers. Later in the episode we rank some of Bergman's movies as well as bring up the recent HBO remake of "Scenes From a Marriage".

We failed in wrapping up our Man of Steel episode quickly that we decided to share it as a separate episode. In our first addition of the show with a guest panelist, we welcome Gil's friend Naor to discuss is appreciation of Man of Steel as well as having a broader discussion about Snyder's films. We begin with a 34 minute review before getting into spoilers. 

Pushing the limit of what one would consider a bonus episode, here's a 6 minute thing of us bringing up Straw Dogs with a mild spoiler, as well as The Contender, Darkest Hour, The Last Castle and Eraserhead come up.

In this episode we give our rankings of Peter Weir films and review Gallipoli in the first 35 minutes before doing a deeper dive with spoilers. Gil completely misses a Mel Gibson / Mad Max reference by Jason, and Matt throws a quick history lesson about World War I when we discuss the reasons for the gap in movies made about that particular war.

Jason brings his love of Anime to the show and introduces Matt and Gil to this dystopian Sci-fi thriller.    First 21 minutes is a spoiler free review and then we delve deeper and reference Vertigo, The Third Man, Kafka and even Necrophilia.

This time we begin by discussing similarities between There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men with spoilers, but quickly after 10 minutes veer off into a talk about cinematography for those who have an interest and want to hear a 15 minute dive into that subject with a few shows and movies mentioned along the way.
