Whenever Star Wars comes up in our show Jason will often say that we don't have time to get into that. So we made the time with our longest episode to date, just shy of two hours.  Matt adds more hate but also some respect to JJ, we rank the trilogies and movies, discuss the secret sauce that made the original trilogy so good, and analyze the fandom of this massive franchise.

We discuss the rise and dip of great directors. Is the Tarantino approach of stopping at ten movies make sense? Or is it better to keep making movies at the risk of having more misses than hits? We bring up Michael Mann, Spielberg, Kubrick, Scorsese, Fincher, Zemeckis, Coppola, Kurosawa, Bergman and others. 

Andrew, our long time friend and catalyst for us doing the podcast joins us in this epic conversation about Aronofsky's third ambitious feature film.  We review the movie and rank his films in the first 36 minutes before going deep into the rest of it with spoilers.

As expected, ranking Wright's movies made for it's own short discussion and a debate on whether Baby Driver was a great movie or just okay.

We discuss Edgar Wright's latest with a 16 minute review before going into spoilers. Jason slightly spoils The World's End. Other movies that come up are Sunshine, Fight Club and World War Z.

A discussion about notable directors veers into a quick conversation about when unique directors go straight.

In this double feature episode we compare Lady Bird to The Edge of Seventeen. We give a 22 minute review before going into a spoiler filled discussion about the similarities and differences.

Matt goes full on hate mode on Jar Jar Abrams and Jason explains the concept of Headcanons.

We spend 17 minutes on a spoiler free review before going into the details on this big time sequel from The James Cameron. Matt has a theory about Cameron's influence on modern action movies and sequels, and Jason thinks this is one of the greatest movies ever made.

Top ten lists are very popular, so we decided to discuss our 11 to 20 while name dropping some that made the top ten as well as others that might not crack the top 20, but are very worthy. It becomes an exercise in trying to make sure we don't leave some master directors out of the top 20. There's an 18 minute review before we go deep and tackle this epic meeting of Pacino and De Niro on screen, or are they on screen together? We discuss that and much more as well as compare it to the TV movie that preceded it.  

At the tail end of our Blade Runners recording we briefly discussed legacy sequels and why Blade Runner 2049 is probably the best of them. Jason again says we don't have time to talk about Star Wars and gives Creed some love as another solid legacy sequel. Matt closes the episode in comparing movies to sex, so there's that too.

After a short break we come back big with our double feature episode talking about Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. This was a bit too epic of a discussion to shorten and is officially our longest episode to date.   We compare between the two movies and Gil delves deep into his not so warm feelings regarding the original Blade Runner and Ridley Scott's career in general.   Jason comes...

We give a 14 minute review before going deep with spoilers into the fine details. We have a short conversation about instances where we felt casting decisions were either distracting or weren't a very good fit even when the actor was a very high caliber one. Movies we touch on are Moon, Thor, The Dark Knight Rises, Joker, Lion and some others.
