As we look at Practicing Prayer as a family, we’ll dive into the idea that God has prepared us for such a time as this to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs it.

We are starting a series on prayer. This week, we look at the importance and value of a deep and personal prayer life.

Rest is vital to our wellbeing (physical, emotional, and spiritual), and yet we often choose to go without it. In love for His creation, God commands that we remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. This Sunday, we’ll see how Sabbath rest is a gift from God and something for us to enjoy.

May 22, 2024 - When God speaks, we speak. When God is silent, we are silent.

What is the Church? We’ll explore this question for our Pentecost Sunday. We’ll learn that Pentecost initiates the start of the Church as one, holy, Christian, and apostolic body of believers.

Christ’s ascension if celebrated every year, but why do we rejoice that Jesus goes away? While we certainly have the promise of the Holy Spirit, we also rejoice that Jesus is enthroned and rules over all things.

May 8, 2024 - God is in control of all things, so put your hope and trust completely in His hands.

In this Sunday’s message, we’ll see that God’s Word is to be cherished and valued. It is sweeter than honey and more valuable than gold. By it, we are warned of our sin, but more importantly, we are shown our Savior. Because of God’s grace for us through Jesus, let’s join in the rest of creation in glorifying His Holy Name.  

What is lament and how have we misunderstood suffering in our modern world? This Sunday we’ll walk through Psalm 13 that invites us to walk through the four movements of lament which are: turn to God, bring our true feelings to Him, ask God for deliverance, and trust that He will move. 

April 24, 2024 - God has designed the gift of sexuality for us, and we give thanks to great relationships in all God has blessed us with.

April 23, 2024 - Every day we have the opportunity to confess our sins and know that they have been transferred to Him, never to be seen again.

Have you noticed things seem to be “off” in our world, like everything is getting louder and chaos continues to increase. From war in the Middle East to continued economic unrest at home, the things out of our control seem to be more and more out of control. In the midst of it all, God invites us to do the impossible, be still. 

Psalm 30 encourages us to recount God’s faithfulness in our lives, to remember what He has done and how He has brought us through adversity and disaster. The psalm’s main message is this: trial and tribulation may last for a season, but the promise we have from God is that it will give way to victory and life in Jesus Christ.

How are you resting? We’re better than numbly scrolling through our favorite social media app when we want a break. Even when we’re resting, we should be seeking out knowledge about others: our spouse, our children, our God. Then we can share that wisdom and love with others.  

As we live in the promises of Easter, we know that out of our brokenness we are made whole by Jesus. 

This Sunday, we celebrate the truth and power of Easter: Christ is risen, and so we too shall rise. We’ll focus on how the resurrection 1) validates who Jesus is, 2) confirms what Jesus has done, and 3) comforts us today and for eternity. The resurrection of Jesus brings assurance, forgiveness, and eternal hope to every believer.

Hindsight is 20/20. It is easy to look back on Palm Sunday and see what was actually going on. But what did the people 2000 years ago expect? Why did they expect it and how do we fall into the same trap today in our expectations of Jesus?

March 20, 2024 - We are not worthy, but so honored to be blessed and loved by a God of love and grace.

God’s love extends to every single person. That is a statement we take comfort in; it is also a statement we have difficulty accepting. As we explore the dimensions of God’s love, we’ll see that it is broader than we realize…and sometimes broader than we find comfortable.

This Sunday, we welcome Dr. Tilahun Mendedo from Lutheran Bible Translators as our guest preacher and Bible study leader. 

March 6, 2024 - We are commanded to live a life worthy of our savior, Jesus, but it's not always easy. When we need help, we should run to His Word which is full of grace and mercy.

“How many times do I have to say it?” Parents utter that phrase often. Perhaps that’s part of why God calls Himself our Heavenly Father. He repeatedly gives us His commands and His promises, though we are slow to listen. This Sunday, we’ll explore that truth and we’ll discover that God finds various ways to express His great love for us. 

As we think about Christ’s journey to the cross, we remember that Jesus endured suffering out of love for us. In response, we are called to love Him. On Sunday, we’ll explore 1 Peter 1, which shows us how we are to love Him, but emphasizes that it is God’s love and grace that saves us. God’s love spares no cost!
