The baptism of Jesus is a beautiful illustration of the Trinity in action declaring the divinity of Christ. Because of this and the work He does in His life, death, and resurrection, our heavenly Father now says over all of us that we are His children, whom He loves, and with whom He is well pleased.

As we close the Christmas season, we get a rare look into the childhood of Christ. As He goes to the Temple, Jesus showcases that He is fully submissive to the will of His Heavenly Father.

So often we are told we need to live a ‘balanced’ life. In the story of Simeon blessing Jesus, we find out that Jesus is not into giving us “balance”, but Jesus gives us His power to live in the “extremes” of His way, truth and life.

When we think of Christ as God descending to us in our needs and ascending to lead us to the Father, we experience advents not only on Sunday but also during the week.

Ever feel like you’ve hit a brick wall in life or in a relationship? Abraham and Sarah faced the brick wall of being too old for children…although God had promised them children many times. But as God reminded Abraham and Sarah: “is anything too wonderful for the Lord to accomplish!”

What does it mean to be successful in life? We could come up with a variety of definitions, but Jesus describes success in a way that doesn’t come natural to us. He tells us that success isn’t about us, but about glorifying God. 

God is on the move, always. Even when things may seem dark or broken, God is on the move. Nehemiah found himself as cup bearer to the king after 140 years in exile. After hearing about the shambles that Jerusalem was still in, he was moved to step out, trusting God, and join in the mission that God had prepared him for.

On this Reformation Sunday, we anchor our beliefs on those that Martin Luther fought for all those years ago. We are saved by faith through grace because of Christ, and we learn this through the scriptures to which God is given all the glory. 

As we conclude the book of Titus, we hold fast to the love that God has shown us in Jesus, and we hold fast to the love we are to show to others.

We continue to walk through the book of Titus, and we see the missionary heart of Christianity. Our lives are to be used for the mission of God as we wait with eager hope for Christ’s return.

As we look at the book of Titus, we see how valuable it is to hold fast in the faith, especially in the midst of a chaotic culture.

September 18, 2024 - We should not look for security in mankind, not even our close friends. Just like us, they are sinners, and we should expect them to hurt us. However, we are still called to draw them near and love them.

More is better… right? While worldly wisdom suggests that more money is always a good thing, we learn from Scripture that wealth can be both a blessing and a burden.

September 11, 2024 - God loves us so much that he wants us to be with him, so he equips us to go out into His kingdom. We are blessed to be his disciples, even though we don't deserve it.

As we begin our "Keep the Change" sermon series, we reflect on three truths: everything belongs to God; we don't deserve anything from Him; and even a crumb of His goodness will satisfy. Thanks be to God that He freely gives us His blessings, that He gives to people who don't deserve it, and that He gives more than crumbs to His needy people. 

What do we do when everything crumbles around us? We find our hope in the Lord. Jeremiah the prophet found himself in despair as his nation laid in ruins, yet God shared hope with him that a new covenant was coming that would restore his people and give them new hearts. 

As we continue our “Portrait of a Prophet” series, we look at the rejection experienced by Jeremiah. Through his ministry, we learn the importance of standing firm in the faith.
