This week Steve taught about King Hezekiah and how we can learn from him the importance of unity, sanctity and upholding the Gospel of the Kingdom in uncertain times. 

This week Steve taught out of 2 Chronicles chapters 17-20 learning from king Jehoshaphat some key lessons on understanding and seeking the kingdom of God so we can be in His will and hear His voice clearly. 

This week Steve taught about king Asa and how faith has to be fought for in trials, in the good times, in our families, in society, and in battles for mental and physical health. 

This week Steve taught out of 1 Kings chapter 13 about the importance of wholehearted devotion to the Lord in the midst of constant compromise to break out of the cycle of the Kings. 

This week Steve taught out of 1 Kings chapter 12 and the lessons learned about decision making from Solomon’s son Rehoboam as he began to rule after his father’s death. 

This week Steve taught about key lessons from King Solomon’s life that help us seek the standard of living that Jesus calls us to and to see that there is nothing new under the sun. 

This week Steve taught on the origin story of the Old Testament Temple and its role throughout history leading up to the new Temple and Church to encourage our souls with what God has done and is going to yet do to truly dwell with us on earth. 

This week Steve taught about the difference between David’s heart and Saul’s heart so we can learn how to be people after God’s heart and not repeat the failures of Israel and her many kings who lost heart and favor with God. 

This Sunday Steve started a new series titled: Lessons from the Kings, where we all journey through 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles. This week Steve wraps up this series with teaching out of Romans 8 and the importance of practicing Sitting, Listening, Praying, and Waiting. He also gives 8 practical questions to evaluate if we are being led by the Spirit.

The Hope that we have in the Gospel is a Hope that can lead us in our core families and our more prominent church family. Only through the lens of the Gospel can we find the strength and courage to live with joy and peace in our family environments. 

This Sunday Steve taught on Romans 8:1-2 about what the law of the Spirit of Life is and how it sets us free to be people of the Spirit. 

This week Steve worked through the whole Chapter 8 of Romans discussing what it means to set our minds on the things of the Spirit. 

This week Steve finished Romans 7 teaching about the inner struggle of the soul with sin and the struggle to obey the Law. Awareness of these soul realities is necessary to lead us into the new way of the Spirit and Gospel centeredness. 

This week Steve continued in Romans 7 verse 7-13, showing how the Gospel frees us from Confusion (fear, anxiety and lawlessness) and sets us free to Contentment (faith, peace and righteousness). 

This week Steve taught out of Romans chapter 7 about the glorious Gospel freeing us from the law and sin into a whole new way of living by the Spirit.

This week Steve finished Romans 6 and taught about the importance of knowing the new language of being a new creation and how embracing our new identity in Christ also gives us God’s view of history bringing faith and peace. 

This week Steve began a study in Romans chapters 6-8. We must know who we are in Christ before we can learn to be like Christ. We must learn to be people of the Spirit and not merely human. 

This Resurrection Sunday Steve taught from John chapter 12 and asked the question if we are willing to consider that the God of our story and life is not the God of the Bible but a distortion of the God of the Bible we created to cope with our struggles. And can we remember the time the Gospel became personal?

Derek unpacks how the simple and unexpected challenges of daily life can become profound opportunities for spiritual growth and how Christ-like humility is the best place to start. 

This week Steve finished chapter 6 in 2 Corinthians, calling us all to develop a heart in pursuit of holiness and to see the Church and our bodies as God’s temple so we can experience all the promises of God and not receive His grace in vain. 

This week Steve continued in 2 Corinthians chapter 6, looking at Paul’s exhortation to the church to widen their hearts and awaken their affections. Steve tied in Hebrews 4:12-13 to show how our hearts are widened by the Word of God by discerning the division of soul and spirit. 

This week Steve taught out of 2 Corinthians chapter 5 about the powerful ministry of reconciliation and the importance of dwelling on what God has done and is going to do rather than what man has done.
