Becoming like Jesus is possible but not inevitable. Far too many of us believe three lies about transformation, leading to a faulty view of spiritual growth.

Because of Jesus and what he’s done, the greatest value in life is knowing him. So, what does it mean to be with Jesus—to be a person who’s pursuing his presence?

As followers of Jesus, our belief begins in the gospel, the good news of Jesus. Belief is fact, belief is trust, and belief is obedience.

If you really want to be a person who takes God at his word and lives by it, then Jesus must be the object of your attention and your affection.

Following Jesus will cost you something. We see this truth through a group of people listed in Hebrews 11. But when we give up our lives, we find real life.

Faith trusts God with the outcome. Anyone can come to God in faith, perfection is not a prerequisite to faith, and God can use anyone who places faith in him for his redemptive purposes. To have faith in God is to trust in God’s character.

Moses helps us understand how to cultivate an enduring faith, a faith that will last even when everything around us is attempting to form us in a different way.

Faith trusts God against all odds. Sarah received the promise of God with the laughter of impossibility, but God demonstrated his power to do the impossible in and through her.

As we see through the life of Abraham, faith-in-action requires obedience to God, waits on God, and withholds nothing from God.

Noah is commended in Scripture as a man of faith who took God at his word and lived by it. God used Noah’s faith to work his plan of redemption in the world. And in the face of cultural pushback, God can use your obedience, too, for his redemptive purposes.

God chose for Enoch to not experience death; he simply walked into the eternal presence of God. Before that even took place, Enoch was approved as one who pleased God.

We see faith in the life of Abel, from the Old Testament. Faith produces the kind of character in a person that will always give their best to God.

Faith is the demonstration of belief through action in God and his word for what is not yet seen. Faith takes God at his word and lives by it.

The new life in Christ is the key to seeing the Gospel effectively going out into the world. While there’s maybe not a lot of interpretation at the end of Colossians, there’s a lot of things to put into practice with this text.

We’re called to live every relationship—including marital, parental, and socioeconomic—for the sake and honor of Jesus and from our new identity he’s given us.

We can live out a new way of life as God’s new humanity, and this weekend’s passage points us toward the truth about both sins of desire and sins of disunity.

We’re all pursuing something, and the apostle Paul offers wisdom into what to pursue with our life, how we are to pursue it, and why we should pursue it.

Living our best life in Christ results in true freedom, but we first must understand (1) that God’s acceptance of you is not contingent on what you do and (2) that this free life is living as Jesus would if Jesus were you.

We become like Jesus and do the things he did when we apprentice to him and walk with him, because life is best lived in Christ.

If Christ is in you, you know the call on your life, you begin to mature, you live with a lasting encouragement, and you won’t be deceived by seemingly reasonable arguments.

What do you believe to be true about Jesus? That question resounds through the generations. It was relevant for the earliest Christians, and it remains pertinent to our lives today.

Paul’s prayer life was constant, contagious, intercessory, and humble. If we really understand and apply these priorities, too, it will radically change our prayer lives.

When the good news of Jesus is at work in your life, what is it producing? Genuine gospel produces faith, love, and hope.

Because Jesus proved his power over death, he has the power to resurrect what is dead in your life. What is dead in your life that needs resurrection?
