Wade Wainio
Critical Wade Theory
I'll talk about everything from politics to entertainment and philosophy. I'm also a part-time entertainment writer and working-class from the UP of Michigan, so that might come up occasionally. Oh, and I make weird experimental music and sometimes host a college radio show.

CWT #36 - Democracy without rights? ALSO: Debunking Hobbes and social contract theory? 18.03.2022 11:45
The classic definition of democracy is where people can vote to decide laws and policies, either directly or by electing representatives. However, both realistically and in theory, majoritarianism might let people vote to deprive substantial portions of rights from segments of a population. So yes, in a fragmented and contradictory sense, some approximation of democracy can exist wherein some peop...
CWT #35 - How I first got into music and guitar 16.03.2022 6:57
How I got into music and goofing around on the guitar.
CWT #34 - How to Avoid Witch Trials 11.03.2022 11:31
You've seen this episode's title. Oddly enough, though, there are some scenarios where it may be misleading. You see, not all accused witches even face trials. This actually happened recently. Yes, that old and vile practice of murdering people accused of witchcraft is still happening...in the year 2022. In some places, I guess you might be able to take a selfie with...
CWT #33 - Outsider Music (Including My Music) 06.03.2022 7:38
Here I talk about outsider music, including some of my favorite aspects and techniques of being an "outsider" musician.

CWT #31 - A.I. Invents a Cryptid (The Cactus Cat. Hat Bandits, and Weird Arizona Rant) 05.03.2022 5:25
This is so damn nerdy! More of the results of me plugging words into an A.I. text generator. To read my original article on the fake "Cactus Cat" creature and better grasp the context, you can check it out here: https://1428elm.com/2021/12/21/call-cryptid-cactus-cat-american-southwest/
CWT #30: 'Cancel Culture' Pre-Internet/Chris Brown/The Issue of Abuse/Getting Jaded 02.03.2022 13:36
Basically, the idea that anyone has never, ever said anything even remotely offensive or regrettable is laughable. In fact, I don’t even trust anyone who claims to have a perfect life or spotless reputation. We make mistakes as a way to learn from them, but at a certain point, you need to stop getting perpetually punished for them — unless you’re a serial killer or something (but we’re not quite t...
CWT #29: My Thoughts on Rapper/Actor Ice Cube 01.03.2022 6:34
Rappin' and actin' and stashin' up cash in a rapid-ass fashion with brashness and passion.
CWT #28: Unpopular Opinion #4 - Help People Out, Dumbass! 28.02.2022 3:08
My words of encouragement: Help People Out, Dumbass!
CWT #27: Levellers (Band) 28.02.2022 4:54
used to own a CD of theirs!
CWT #26 / Unpopular Opinion #3: We are literally all in this together... 26.02.2022 0:32
Yep
CWT #25 / Unpopular Opinion #2: People need to spend less time pointing fingers at each other... 24.02.2022 0:21
I spout some hippie, peace-mongering liberal B.S.
CWT #24 / Unpopular Opinion #1: A younger generation generally doesn't need to be corrected... 22.02.2022 0:26
Don't like it? Tough!
CWT #23: A.I. Helps Invent a Cryptid [Elaborating on the 'Cactus Cat'] 19.02.2022 5:12
I fed the following text into an A.I. text generator: "The cactus cat is apparently a lion-like creature with spines it uses to slash open cacti, returning to drink the fermented juice at night. Yes, legend has it this mythological creature gets drunk. Would it be called a cacti-holic? Being a zany fearsome critter of legend, it seems few out there actually believe in this creature, but it’s nonet...
CWT #22: AC/DC. My Raw, Low-Effort Thoughts on the Band 17.02.2022 4:53
You saw the title, you've heard the band. I cite some basic facts and give my raw opinion on AC/DC. (I didn't discuss it in the audio, but I don't see why they got rid of that bald drummer from the "Thunderstruck" video.)
CWT #21: Ask Me Anything: How do movie trends kick-off and cycle through? 16.02.2022 8:37
Evangeline the Voodoo Priestess asked: "How do you think movie trends kick-off and cycle through?" I did my best to attempt an answer. Also, if you want to ask me a question (about movies, music, politics, or whatever else) you can ask me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/wade_wainio Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wade.wainio Each question MIGHT receive its own indi...
CWT #20: Earth Wind & Fire. A quick, low-effort look at the soul group. 10.02.2022 3:33
You read the title. You've probably heard the group. What is my opinion on them? Does it matter? NO. But I talk about them anyway...
CWT #19: Rose McGowan's Iffy Takes, pt. 2 (Rose, Elder, and the Botched Recall) 09.02.2022 12:29
...As bad as Newsom might be, should we really use his ties to shady people be the main determining factor in how a powerful state like California deals with its economy, among so many other issues? Consider that Larry Elder wants to abolish the IRS, end welfare, abolish the minimum wage, and end corporate taxes. Oh, and he no doubt wants to abolish public schools. Obviously, these iss...
CWT #18: What the heck is '2-step garage' music? 02.02.2022 6:44
What the heck is '2-step garage' music? I don't pretend to fully answer that question, but here is my understanding of it.
CWT #17: Rose McGowan's Iffy Takes, pt. 1 (Rose, Asia, and a MeToo mess) 31.01.2022 9:42
I don't particularly want to pick on Rose McGowan, but there is definitely some stuff to talk about. In this episode, I'm looking at her apparent double standards regarding MeToo. In the future, I plan on looking at some of her other questionable takes on issues, including a cringe-inducing endorsement...
CWT #16: A Quick Look at A&M Records (Music History) 29.01.2022 4:22
"It's become really hip to criticize record labels. Music artists do it themselves quite often, including in songs. It's understandable, as they can easily come across as soulless corporations, like any other business. Still, I'm going to put that aside for the moment and just look at the history of A&M Records, and just remind people to take the good with the bad, just a lit...
CWT #15: Do I think people have taken political correctness too far? 24.01.2022 21:58
Sometimes it seems it’s gone too far. The way people are judged for speaking their minds, often if they haven’t even said anything particularly extreme. At the same time, it’s definitely possible to go too far in the other direction, which rightwing buffoons need to acknowledge more often.
CWT #14: Earshot (Band) - My Thoughts On a Band That's Derivative-Yet-Okay 22.01.2022 5:03
What if a band is derivative-yet-okay? That's the predicament I have with Earshot. What band do they sound a little too similar to (at times)? Listen and find out!
CWT #13: A look at the 2 oldest known music compositions 14.01.2022 5:49
The Oldest Known Melody ("Hurrian Hymn" no.6 - c.1400 B.C.), as well as "Song of Seikilos" - 1st-century Greek song.
CWT #12: Could the US subvert the capitalist elite electorally? 14.01.2022 7:22
People lost faith because they were taught that they were a country where anybody can do anything if they have the guts and a bit of luck, and possibly, as freakish as it sounds, even run for the highest office in the land. However, now it's just too obvious that any President and their close allies are overwhelmingly just serving millionaires and billionaires.
