Creativity Wasted
Creativity Wasted is a podcast where a group of creative people get together, and we each share an idea that we're not planning on pursuing in real life, such as an invention idea that's outside our area of expertise, a futuristic sci-fi movie idea, or an evil prank idea. And rather than just letting the idea quietly slip away, we get some fun out of it by joking about it together.

Futuristic Mobile Grocery Storage System (Tom Walma) 29.07.2021 18:48
Idea: Large wheelable storage containers which store your groceries while you shop in the grocery store (instead of grocery carts), in your car while you transport the groceries (instead of grocery bags), and in your house (the grocery containers would be embedded within your pantry or kitchen island or fridge/freezer so you don't have to "unpack" groceries when you get home). The grocery storage...
Podcast Studio On-The-Go (Bryan Harrison) 22.07.2021 12:50
Idea: To put podcast recording gear in a van and rent out recording time to other podcasters, and to drive the van to where they want to record. Also: the creepiness factor of telling a stranger to step into your van and maybe putting a boot on the tire of the van during the recording so they trust you not to kidnap them; renting out the van for other activities; putting a cheesy logo on the van a...
Mosquito-Killing Fireworks (Chris Young) 15.07.2021 9:23
Idea: To put chemicals in the smoke of fireworks to repel or kill mosquitos, similar to the chemicals currently used in mosquito foggers/sprayers. The chemicals in existing fireworks are probably somewhat poisonous, so if you're gonna do poison, you might as well get something out of it. Also: the "come to Jesus" moment for mosquitos; the risk that dead mosquitos falling from the sky could attract...
Mass Transit Sky Trams (Nick Pizzuti) 08.07.2021 12:28
Idea: To use "sky trams" (aka "aerial tramways" or "cable cars") for mass transit in the US. They could be used in several places, such as in the mountains, between skyscrapers, in the center of split highways, in Miami after Florida sinks underwater due to global warming, and in Alaska after the permasoft melts and turns the ground to mud. Also: self-driving cars syncing together to drive really...
Brainstorming About Selling A Screenplay (Jeremy Shipley) 01.07.2021 14:28
A brainstorming session for a screenwriter who's losing hope about his nearly impossible quest to sell his screenplay, which is a "Monty Python"-esque absurdist Medieval comedy with undertones about coping with the hopelessness of a nearly impossible quest to kill a dragon. Also: meeting Kevin Smith and Kevin Smith's inspirational story about making the movie "Clerks"; whether to take a traditiona...
Physical Skills As Roadside Sobriety Tests (Travis Hargan) 24.06.2021 14:38
Idea: For cops to use tests of physical motor skills as sobriety tests, as opposed to mental sobriety tests with no relation to the physical act of driving, such as saying the alphabet backwards or following a moving pen with your eyes. Physical skill-based sobriety tests could be party games (Dance Dance Revolution, ping-pong), demonstrations of a physical talent (such as juggling), or a driving...
Keg Foot Pedal and Beer Can Football (Jon Houser) 17.06.2021 8:13
Idea: A foot pump for a keg, so you can use both of your hands to dispense the beer without having to also use a hand pump. Also, a Nerf-like football with a "beer bong" or beer can inside of it, so you can toss it to a friend instead of walking all the way over to them. Also: drug dealing by throwing a football with drugs inside of it; something you can throw or launch out of your car (like a bal...
Weed Passing Device (Jon Houser) 10.06.2021 17:39
Idea: A device to pass weed across the room to your friends without getting up from the couch. Ideas include a ball with a bong inside which is gyroscopically kept upright ("Ballabong"), an "Inspector Gadget"-style extendable device ("Bong Tongs"), a joint with aerodynamic fins to allow you to throw it like a dart ("Jart") or shoot from a Nerf crossbow ("Crossjoint"), a weed catapult ("Cannapult")...
Exercise Machine Handle Videogame Controllers (Tom Walma) 03.06.2021 39:17
Idea: Handles for an exercise machine (such as a treadmill, bicycle, rowing machine, or even free weights) which contain a game controller for XBox/Playstation/Steam to allow you to play A-list videogames while exercising. The handles could be swapped from exercise machine to exercise machine to allow you to perform a type of exercise which doesn't interfere with your gameplay at any given moment....
Uber Ambulance (Bart Dangus) 27.05.2021 10:51
Idea: An Uber-like transportation service where the drivers use normal vehicles (i.e. not ambulances) to recklessly speed you to the hospital for much less cost than a traditional ambulance. Also: a cheaper alternative for less life-threatening injuries; strapping the injured person to the hood so the cops know why you're speeding; euthanasia via Miata Jimmy Slims (instagram.com/jimmyslimscomedy t...
Nicotine or Caffeine Infused Tooth Brushing Stick (Tom Walma) 20.05.2021 18:26
Idea: To infuse a miswak stick (a tree stick traditionally used in the Middle East to brush your teeth without toothpaste) with nicotine or caffeine. Also: the miswak stick could replace the "cigarette break" and allow everybody (not just smokers) to stand outside and waste time at work; cleaning your teeth by eating a toothpaste sandwich; shampoo, chap stick, and toothpaste are all scams Dani HaH...
Cigarette Storage Shiv (Jimmy Slims) 13.05.2021 10:30
Idea: A small case for storing a cigarette which also functions as a shiv, because it can be dangerous to smoke outside in the dark. It would have a tight seal so you could stab somebody without getting their blood on the cigarette inside. It might also contain a cigarette holder/clasp which holds onto the cigarette when you open the case so you can smoke the cigarette without touching it with you...
Black GPS (Dani HaHa) 06.05.2021 12:43
Idea: A GPS system for your car which has special features for Black people and which has a strong voice personality, such as Samuel L. Jackson, who yells at you to ensure you don't ignore important warnings (like to avoid dangerous areas). Also: instead of warning you about speed traps, it'd warn you about "trap houses"; instead of warning you about a "disabled vehicle ahead", if you're approachi...
Stuff-On-Demand Mini Cruise Ship Clusters (Tom Walma) 29.04.2021 8:13
Idea: To have many tiny cruise ships (from family-sized to max size of appx 200 people) that travel in clusters, along with giant supply ships, with drones and rowboat-sized supply boats to move food and other supplies between the giant supply ships and the tiny cruise ships. Also: tiny cruise ships could dock in ports which aren't big enough to dock giant cruise ships; putting people on separate...
Stuff-On-Demand Modular Tiny RVs (Tom Walma) 22.04.2021 18:00
Idea: Pickup-truck-sized RVs which have flat truck beds which are divided into four rectangle segments onto which modular "RV cubes" containing your stuff (or stuff that you rent) can be popped on and off on demand at rest stops. Also: "RV cubes" containing beds, tables, jacuzzis, or gear for outdoor activities; ordering stuff from Amazon and shipping it to a rest stop which puts it into an "RV cu...
Deathbed Betting Pools (Peggy Beattie) 15.04.2021 10:15
Idea: To make bets with your friends/family on when a loved one on their deathbed will die (as a distraction from the grief and awkwardness of waiting around for long periods of time in a hospital). Also: betting over the will or the leftover drugs; inappropriately celebrating if you won the bet; trying not to die yet to prevent someone from winning the death bet; side bets on whether alcoholism d...
Remote-Controlled Fast Food Robots (Brandon Ponke) 08.04.2021 14:27
Idea: To replace fast food workers with robots which are controlled by real people working remotely from home, and also to prepare fast food for delivery via pneumatic tubes in "ghost kitchens" in apartment complexes and dorms. This would give the workers more job flexibility and would allow the restaurants to stay open if there was a more deadly virus outbreak. Also: opinions on "gig jobs" and wo...
Drone Food Delivery To Moving Vehicles (Kara Coraci) 31.03.2021 5:00
Ideas: To have drones deliver food to people in moving vehicles, such as cars stuck in traffic. Also: how some technology of today would seem insane and/or ridiculous to people in the past; holding out bags of food on hooks which people on trains can grab as the train drives by; having drones swap your normal helmet with a "beer helmet" while you're driving a motorcycle Gimmy Cipriano (YouTube: AB...
Plug-In Liver (James Couture) 25.03.2021 9:04
Idea: An extra liver that you can plug in to your body after drinking heavily to reduce your hangover and/over reduce the long-term harmful effects of the alcohol. Also: crazy medical devices which actually exist (or could exist) but aren't made available because they're only for recreation (i.e. they don't improve your health); why dentistry is a scam; learning how to make illegal drugs while ser...
GoZebos and Snap-In Windows (Tom Walma) 18.03.2021 12:38
Idea: Gazebos and other structures (yurts, sunbathing pods, dune buggies, pontoon boats) which can be converted between "open-air structures" and "enclosed shelter-providing structures" by snapping in/out modular clear plastic windows. The idea is, instead of living in a "house", to instead live most of your life in the open air, and only enclose yourself "indoors" (i.e. within walls and windows)...
A Taste Of Reality (Justin Siekierka) 11.03.2021 14:34
Idea: Chocolates which (unlike Dove) don't display unrealistically positive messages on the wrapper. Instead, they display realistic messages, such as reminders to perform errands ("make sure you have AA batteries") and comedically dark/demotivational messages ("your spouse probably settled", "you're too old to achieve your dreams"). Also: some of the chocolates could taste bad on purpose to remin...
Tranq Chair (Dave Wellfare) 04.03.2021 10:30
Idea: A "smart chair" with a tranquilizer device to knock out annoying people at a movie theater. It would vibrate once or twice as a warning before tranqing you, unless you answer your phone and start talking, in which case you'd be tranq'd immediately. Also: Getting tranq'd on purpose if the movie is boring or you want to relax before a job interview; trying to make your friends laugh inappropri...
Ice Dogs (Tom Walma) 25.02.2021 19:04
Idea: To use Boston Dynamics robotic dogs to save the lives of people whose hearts have stopped by jumping on their chests and rapidly cooling their bodies, thus giving rescuers an extra hour or two to revive them. Also: "ice dogs" roaming the neighborhood looking for medical emergencies and, in the meantime, serving as police dogs and package delivery dogs; the risk of "ice dogs" sticking to your...
Action Dads (Johnny Mocny) 19.02.2021 17:00
Idea: A reality TV show where a family temporarily replaces the dad with a washed-up action movie star, such as Steven Seagal or Brian Bosworth. The action star would complain that his whole body aches and begrudgingly participate in family-oriented events organized by the reality show. He could be so horrible that he makes the family more appreciative of their real dad, or he could sleep with the...
Good Netflix (Brett Mercer) 12.02.2021 18:12
Idea: A redesign of Netflix which is actually good. It'll be good because a) the shows are better (obviously), and because b) it'll offer a much more immersive experience. It'll support immersion into a particular movie or TV show by including commentaries, Arsenio Hall talk show promotional segments, bloopers, and other bonus content related to the movie or TV show. It'll also support immersion i...
