This is day three of our journey through 21 days of prayer and fasting. When life hits you, it's easy to lean on your own understanding rather than submitting circumstances to God. Yet, His promise in Proverbs 3:5-6 shows us that if we pursue Him and trust in Him, everything will be taken care of. Our God is faithful, and this is a reminder we all need!

Welcome to our journey through 21 days of prayer and fasting. This is one of a series of devotionals that will be here as a resource for you during this fast. What is fasting? Is it Biblical? Why even fast? The role of fasting in the life of a believer can bring about powerful results. It's more than a diet... it's a spiritual discipline that we all need in our lives.

Prayer is integral in the life of a believer. Jesus even teaches us to pray in the New Testament, and this prayer we know as "The Lord's Prayer," gives us a framework to use. This brief teaching from our prayer night can remind and help you as you pray every day. 

As we celebrate Christmas together, we look at that holy night when Christ was born. The Messiah had come to the world at last! He has revealed God to us. He is God with us!

Mary gave birth to a son, Jesus, who is the Christ. She is called the Theotokos, which means "God-bearer." Similarly, we also carry Christ with us. We bear the image of God, and every Christian is pregnant with purpose from God to accomplish His will in the earth. The Lord is doing His part, now I must fully embrace doing mine.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come! As we continue our series, "Songs of Christmas," we look at the deeper meaning of this famous Christmas song. In the account of the birth of Christ in the Gospels, we find God's heart for humanity in all the announcements surrounding the Christ's birth. Peace on earth, and goodwill toward men. Joy to the world, indeed!

It's the Christmas season, and with that comes amazing tradition, great food, and powerful music centered around the true meaning of Christmas: Jesus our Savior! Today we look at The Little Drummer Boy . We may not have much to bring like the little drummer boy, but we still play our best for Him, and that is what truly matters.

A widowed woman was in a funeral for her only son.  Imagine the grief of losing another member of your family... but then Jesus sees her and has compassion on her. This story showcases the compassion and power of the Son of God. Jesus is the one who brings the dead back to life, and creates new things out of nothing. He did it for her, and he does it for us too!

As we conclude our series Hospitable, we come to the final portion of the story of the woman of Shunem. She's hosted the Prophet, been given a son, and then tragedy strikes. In the wake of Her tragedy we find principles to help us navigate our own pain. When we're under attack, when what has been promised seems to have died, God steps in and does the impossible.

As we continue our series Hospitable, we journey further into the story of the woman of Shunem. After creating a place to host the Prophet, He asks her, "What can I do for you?" Her hospitality lead to an encounter that would change her life forever. It can change yours too!

In the Old Testament there's a story from Jacob's life that's peculiar to say the least. After working for seven years to marry Laban's daughter Rachel, He instead ends up with her sister Leah. The full story of Jacob's marriage to Leah and then Rachel teaches us a valuable lesson about the process of patience in waiting for a promise.

In the first week of our series Hospitable, we take a look at an Old Testament story showcasing the importance of hosting the presence of the Lord. A woman's simple act of hosting a prophet teaches us how to prioritize Jesus over everything else.

Waiting... While not everyone's favorite pastime, it's an experience we all have. Even in our Christian walk we experience the 'wait.' We believe we've heard from God, but for some reason there's a period of waiting. The scriptures provide an example of exactly how to approach, and thrive, in seasons of waiting so that when the promise comes, we're ready.

As we conclude our series Encounters, we finish our deep dive into the story of Lazarus. In the aftermath of Lazarus' resurrection, Jesus and His disciples are at a dinner. During that dinner, Mary opened a jar of perfume and anointed Jesus' feet. Her willingness to humble herself in front of so many and to pour out something so expensive on Jesus inspires us to do the same.

King David is on the run when he receives a memento from his past that's he uses to help secure victory in the future. In the life of a believer, we too have mementos from our past that can help us keep faith for tomorrow. Mementos of God's faithfulness and love.

Jesus is standing at the tomb of Lazarus with onlookers from various backgrounds and with differing motives. In front of them all, Jesus showcases His power and glory by telling the people to remove the stone, and calling out to Lazarus. Despite doubts, the people operated in faith to remove the stone, and then helped their resurrected friend out of his graveclothes. We too can see lives impacted...

In the book of Leviticus, God gives specific instructions to the Children of Israel in regards to His presence and how the Priests were to handle the flame on the altar. This Old Testament account teaches us how we should keep the flame burning in our own lives. Don't let the fire go out!

When Jesus shows up on the scene a few days after the death of Lazarus, He finds His friends grieving. They're lament over Lazarus and even doubt and apparent frustration with Jesus caused Him to react in a way not seen. He wept. Even though Jesus knew how the story would end, that did not mean He was numb to the pain experienced by His friends.

In life we often go through the fire. We go through situations that are intense and stressful. In the Old Testament there's a story of three men who also, literally, went through fire. Their story of obedience in the face of intense consequences can teach us a valuable lesson on how we should operate when we face trials of our own.

The death of Lazarus was an important moment in Jesus' ministry and showcased His power and glory. Today, though, is all about the lead up to this historic moment. Jesus was entering a place that recently tried to stone Him, but because there were people who needed Him and were hospitable to Him, He disregarded the danger.

In life we have the option of accepting and submitting to the atmosphere of our home, work or business; or we can influence and change the atmosphere. We have to come to realize that changing and influencing atmosphere is a significant part of every believer’s assignment.

It's one of the most well known moments in the Gospel's. A woman, caught in the act of adultery is thrown before Jesus by the religious leaders. Everyone was ready to stone her, and trap Jesus in His words. In this moment Jesus teaches us multiple lessons all through His simple act of writing in the dirt. It shows us that there is a better way, and that way, is the Jesus way.
