Conversations: Special Guests with Preston Scott

J.D. Johnson, of the Talon Training Group, offered some thoughts on several stories in the hews. 

Members of Florida's 3rd Congressional District have a good one with Rep, Kat Cammack. Sad that our visit with her had to follow another storm smacking the region. 

In case you were aware, the November 5th general election is going to determine a lot. Mostly, whether we have a country going forward. I asked Justin Haskins of the Heartland Institute to offer some insight into what matters most and why. 

Preston is a fan, unabashedly so, of the band Mercy Me. The guys are coming to town on October 11th at the Tucker Center (Preston might have been first to buy seats) and he got the chance to visit with guitarist, vocalist Mike Scheuchzer (we dare you to try pronouncing it). The answer to the question is that this is Florida State. A team which should have played for a national title last season. Yeah, it lost some key (and great) players, but it's the same coaching staff and ... well, darn it, it's FSU. The team is back, right? Well, clearly there are issues and we discussed those remaining topics and some lingering questions with Ira Schoffel of Warchant.com.

J.D. Johnson.,Talon Training Group, came in-studio. Preston hit him with a couple of news stories and got J.D.'s reaction, then transitioned to how aging citizens can better protect themselves. He also touched on some training tips and addressed the topic of maintaining your firearms, notably your handguns. 

Dr Bob McClure, James Madison Institute, visited with Preston in-studio and talked about how impactful your vote will be, one way or the other, this November. 

Our resident historian, Dr. Ed Moore, dug his way out of the many rabbit holes he goes down to discuss Florida and it's remarkable growth from territory to present and some of the elections oddities along the way. 

Ira Schoffel of WarChant.com joined Preston and tried to unpack what has gone wrong and why with FSU football. 

Dr. Marty Makary, Johns Hopkins University, managed to NOT get cancelled during COVID. He is so respected, he was left alone and survived despite being a contrarian. He is warning of the dangers of not just mmart phones in the hands of kids, but the state of medicine in general. This was a terrific chat. 

I am betting you might come up with one, but I doubt you can name the three biggest issues which wil dramatically shape this country. I visited with one of the most informed, well-researched, minds in America, Justin Haskins of the Heartland Insitute and challenged him to identify the trio. 

The Managing Editor of Warchant.com, Ira Schoffel, joined Preston for a look back at the 0-and-2 start for the once 10th ranked FSU football team and offered some thoughts on what has gone wrong and what the rest of the season may look like. 

Sal Nuzzo, Executive Director of Consumers Defense, explained how ESG is impacting your life right now and ways to push back (trust us... you need to push back). It is impacting your wallter now and in the future. 

OK, we mixed in some talk about being confronted by a bear, but I spent the bulk of my time together with J.D. Johnson, Talon Training Group, talking about stories in the news of late and what they can teach us. We also offered some practical advice you can take to the range to be better prepared for "what if" situations. 

How does one red pill themselves? That's the story and journey of Owen Girard, a young man who was an all-in Bernie Sanders supporter and now a fully embracing conservative. He visited with Preston and explained how it all, yes all, happened. 

The Gunwriter, Lee Williams, joined Preston to talk what we know, and more frightening what we don't, about a Kamala Harris-Tim Walz administration and the danger it presents to our Constitution. Also discussed was the beatdown the ATF took at the hands of the Supreme Court of The United States. 

Our resident historian, Dr. Ed Moore, offers a jump in the wayback machine to consider the long history of political conventions and some oddities in America's electoral past. 

James Carafano, Counselor to The President of Heritage Foundation, and a twenty-five year veteran of the U.S. Army offered some insight on recruiting and why it's lagging behind goals, Plus, is that reality place our nation in the crosshairs of our enemies?

Sal Nuzzo, of Consumers Defense, gave us a quick overview of things you might want on your radar if you live inside the Sunshine State borders. 

His resume is remarkable ... Admiral U.S. Navy, Navy SEAL, served two Presidents, and now, author of a book called "The Gouge." Admiral Bob Harward visited with Preston while traveling through Ukraine to Poland. The connect was amazingly good, the conversation was better.

Jerome Hudson's monthly visits are high water marks for listeners of The Morning Show and his recent chat with Preston did not disappoint.

Michael Alford, Florida State University Vice-President and Director of Athletics, came in for a lengthy chat with Preston. Topics included a look at the '23-'24 sports year, the change in college athletics with the transfer portal and NIL, renovations at Doak Campbell Stadium, and the future with or without the ACC. 

Preston visited with Jesus Rodriguez, for more than two decades served as a U.S. Boarder Patrol Agent. Jesus is will well connected with our Border Patrol Agents and offered his unique perspective to what is, and likely will be, happening at our border with Mexico.
