Episodes

VALKYRIE (2008) - Series 8: Episode 115 06.06.2021

On this week's episode, the boys acknowledge the anniversary of D-Day with a movie that has nothing to do with D-Day outside of a strong desire to kill Hitler! Join us as we talk about "Valkyrie", the plot(s) to kill the man who truly put the dick in dictator, and the accompanying score by the multi-talented John Ottman! A note: Just like on the Passion of the Christ episode, we're going to brush...

THE PINK PANTHER (1963) - Series 8: Episode 114 30.05.2021

In celebration of Alex's 137th birthday, the boys let him pick a movie score to cover, and for once he didn't disappoint. Join us as we watch Peter Sellers crash into things, set to the slinky sounds of Henry Mancini's iconic score for 1963's The Pink Panther.

HUGO (2011) - Series 8: Episode 113 23.05.2021

Martin Scorsese directing a fantastical family adventure film? Music by the inestimable Howard Shore? Starring the girl from Kick Ass and the guy who played Gandhi? Sure, why not. It's Hugo, everybody.

PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE (1985) - Series 8: Episode 112 16.05.2021

This week, the boys tackle one of their weirdest outings yet: the debut of both Tim Burton and Danny Elfman (which retrospectively makes a lot of sense). Relive your fear of Large Marge as the comPOSERS take on Pee-Wee's Big Adventure!

SOUL (2020) - Series 7: Episode 111 09.05.2021

This week, the boys get metaphysical in the Great Before while oscillating wildly between jazz and synth and pondering the nature of existence! Join us as we discuss the recently-Oscar-winning score to 2020's Soul, composed by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste.

UNCUT GEMS (2019) - Series 7: Episode 110 02.05.2021

Because we're not all stressed out enough, this week the boys welcome back beer provider and score aficionado Gavin Whitehead to discuss the 2019 crime drama Uncut Gems, and its score by Daniel Lopatin!

SILVERADO (1985) - Series 7: Episode 109 25.04.2021

This week, the boys saddle up for another trip to the Wild West with "Silverado", easily the Westernest Western ever to beat you to the draw at high noon while somehow also riding a horse into the sunset. Come for Bruce Broughton's much-loved score, stay for the video game tangents and another story about Alex's monumental ineptitude!

LA CONFIDENTIAL (1997) - Series 7: Episode 108 18.04.2021

This week, the boys welcome back returning guest Andrew Young of the Geek Hard show to talk about a noir crime thriller featuring an all-star cast including [redacted redacted] and music by King Jerry Goldsmith!

THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1977) - Series 7: Episode 107 11.04.2021

This week, the boys Bond over another 007 outing, this time brought to us by Marvin Hamlisch. Join us as we discuss the weirdly disco-inspired score, as well as Roger Moore's impossibly easygoing Bond tackling the greatest villain of all: advanced middle age!

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (2004) - Series 7: Episode 106 04.04.2021

This week the boys were feeling self-sacrificial, so we (Aaron) decided to subject ourselves to the feel-good movie of 2004, Mel Gibson's not-at-all-controversial Passion of the Christ, and its score by John Debney. This episode was tough to keep score-centric (no idea what else we could discuss about this movie!), so if you want to skip our long, occasionally heavy, but ultimately pretty interest...

THOR RAGNAROK (2017) - Series 7: Episode 105 28.03.2021

On today's episode, we bid farewell to Marvel March with a movie chosen by  you the listener ! Join us as we traverse the bizarre landscape that is Thor: Ragnarok with music by Mark "The Guy From Devo" Mothersbaugh!

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2014) - Series 7: Episode 104 21.03.2021

Marvel March continues with the first installment of Guardians of the Galaxy, with music by Tyler Bates. Join us as we chat about one of the more obscure franchises to make it into the MCU, and find out the results of the Great Marvel Twitter Poll!

HOWARD THE DUCK (1986) - Series 7: Episode 103 14.03.2021

Okay, we lied. THIS is the least "Marvel" Marvel movie we're doing this month. Join us on this very, very bad acid flashback as we discuss the otherwise-decent score for Howard the Duck by John Barry and Sylvester Levay!

ANT-MAN (2015) - Series 7: Episode 102 07.03.2021

The boys welcome you to Marvel March with the least Marvel movie of them all. Join us as we discuss Christophe Beck's delightful heist score for the ageless Paul Rudd's Ant-Man!

WHEN HARRY MET SALLY (1989) - Series 7: Episode 101 28.02.2021

This week, the boys drag themselves (especially Alex) over the finish line of romcomPOSERS month. Join us as we learn how men and women really can't be friends, and how this movie really didn't need what little score Marc Shaiman actually wrote, in When Harry Met Sally.

100TH EPISODE SPECIAL 26.02.2021

One hundred god damned episodes — from The Wrath of Khan to, strangely, Serendipity. We've seen highs, lows, and a lot of in between, and what have we learned? It's time to SELL OUT, FRIENDS! Enjoy a look back on the best and worst of a hundred movie scores, and maybe drop by our brand-spanking new Patreon page .

SERENDIPITY (2001) - Series 7: Episode 100 21.02.2021

This week we celebrate our 100th episode in true comPOSERS fashion: by covering a film and soundtrack that nobody cares about. Not even us.  Join us anyway, as romcomPOSERS month continues, for Alan Silvestri's Serendipity. And as promised, here's the dumb video Alex made to commemorate this arbitrary milestone (original music by Aaron deGroot). Tune in Thursday for our 100th episode extravaganza!...

CRAZY RICH ASIANS (2018) - Series 7, Episode 99 14.02.2021

This week, the boys continue RomcomPOSERS month as we travel to Singapore to watch a bunch of rich people be just terrible to one another. Join us as we delve into Brian "Bry-Ty" Tyler's jazzy score to the groundbreaking but controversial "Crazy Rich Asians".

MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING (1997) - Series 7: Episode 98 07.02.2021

To kick off RomcomPOSERS month, we're starting in a very "us" fashion with an anti -romcom (sort of). Join us as we discuss this movie made for...someone...and its serviceable score by James Newton Howard.

GATTACA (1997) - Series 7: Episode 97 31.01.2021

This week, we delve into the "not-too-distant-future" of 1997 where deGENErates like us face non-stop discrimination, even when they look like Ethan Hawke and not Alex! Join us as we discuss Gattaca and its minimalist score by Michael "I'd rather be doing opera" Nyman.

INTERVIEW WITH MUSICIAN AARON OPPENHEIMER - Midweek Special 28.01.2021

Who says nobody listens to our podcast? Following our episode on Four Rooms, we were contacted by percussionist Aaron Oppenheimer, formerly of Combustible Edison, who heard and reportedly enjoyed what we had to say! This week, Aaron joins us to talk scoring the movie, the lounge revival, working with DEVO, and meeting Pee Wee Herman, among many other things. Check out Aaron's quarantine music proj...

STAR WARS V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980) - Series 7: Episode 96 24.01.2021

To start Series 7 off with a bang, the boys return to a galaxy far, far away and finally do away with the nonsensical pretense of the scorecard. Join us as we talk at length about one of the finest film scores of all time, courtesy of Saint John Williams. You love us; we know.

SERIES 6 RETROSPECTIVE 21.01.2021

To bid farewell to a very...eclectic season, the boys elected to do a nice quick retrospective: no trivia, no games, no infuriating Southern accents. But tune in for some very important comPOSERS news that directly addresses our listeners' biggest complaint about the show! (No, we're not firing Alex. Yet.)

THE SOCIAL NETWORK (2010) - Series 6: Episode 95 17.01.2021

This week, the boys revisit the days of social media's infancy, when men rowed boats and women were objects to be rated on a website. Join us as we discuss 2010's The Social Network and its unique score by Trent "Nine Inch Nails" Reznor and Atticus "Works With Trent A Lot" Ross.

HIGH NOON (1952) - Series 6: Episode 94 10.01.2021

On this week's episode, we find ourselves in profound disagreement with a Western icon over an iconic Western film. Join us in proving John Wayne's bitch ass wrong as we discuss the "un-American" classic High Noon, and its iconic score by the legendary Dimitri Tiomkin.
