comPOSERS: The Movie Score Podcast

The holiday season is upon us! And in true comPOSERS fashion, rather than covering a beloved Christmas film, we're covering...whatever this is. Enjoy, if you can, our foray into John Debney's derivative score to the latest installment in the Home Alone franchise. Ho ho ho, we guess?

Welcome to Earth! Again! This week, our heroes travel back to 1997 to watch Will Smith team up with Tommy Lee Jones to eradicate Vincent D'Onofrio, all while cracking wise and making impeccably-tailored suits look good. Here come the Men In Black, with music by the never-disappointing Danny "The Elf Man" Elfman.

Gadgets, guns and genetic doomsday weapons? Break out the martinis for the newest movie we've covered in ages! This week, Jay leads us through a heartfelt farewell to the Daniel Craig Bond era in the long, long, long awaited No Time To Die, featuring a score by Uncle Hans and friends that is very much...in the movie. 

You're a fucking inanimate object! This week, the boys travel to fucking Bruges with Colin Farrell, where absolutely everything and everyone (including, and we're totally serious, the composer of this score) is out to annoy him to death. We hope you enjoy In Bruges, with music by Carter Burwell, more than he did.

With decomPOSERS month behind us, we're back to our regularly-scheduled programming, and that means cuddling up to the warm, familiar embrace of a John Williams score comparatively few people have heard or care about. It's the movie that made Krueger a real boy: The Terminal! (Sorry for the posting delay)

This week, the boys ponder the age-old question "can you make a convincing film adaptation of a video game?" and answer with a resounding "not really". Join us on week three of decomPOSERS month as we get lost in the fog of Silent Hill and its copy-pasted video game score by Akira Yamaoka, arranged (we guess) by Jeff Danna.

This week, the boys inject a little Schlocktober into decomPOSERS month, courtesy of the cult classic horror comedy "Return of the Living Dead" (not to be confused with that other Living Dead film) with music by Matt Clifford and Francis Haines. This score is absolutely impossible to find if you're not Aaron, so thanks to him, you can  check out the whole 42 minutes and 35 seconds right damn here...

Boo, motherfuckers! October is here and that means it's time for another trip into terror with Scaaron deGhoul, Flay Hang and...uh, Krueger...as we venture once again into decomPOSERS month! We start this year off with a film guaranteed to give you Satanic panic: 1976's The Omen, with music by King Jerry Goldsmith!

This week has it all — longshoremen! Crime! Pigeons! Alex not understanding a movie somehow! And even a guest?! Join us and our Fifth Beatle Andrew Young from Geek Hard as we talk Leonard Bernstein's score to one of the greatest movies of all time: On the Waterfront.

This week our gregarious gumshoes enter a world where being sweet on a dame means you're probably going to die! Join us as we delve into the seedy underbelly of Sin City and explore a rare collaborative score featuring John Debney, Graeme Revell and Robert Rodriguez. 

We've encountered some strange movies on our journey, but few so unique as this week's adventure. Join us as we meet Seth Rogen and his great grandfather Seth Rogen in 2020's streaming exclusive An American Pickle, featuring dope themes by Michael "Jah-Keeno" Giacchino and a superb score by newcomer Nami Melumad!

Animation August goes out with a bang as the boys travel to Berk to learn about animal abuse! Join us as we enjoy the visual spectacle that is How To Train Your Dragon, and the very impressive score by John Powell.

The boys get spooky as Animation August continues. This time we venture into the weird world of stop-motion animation with special guest Elspeth "LP" McRobb of the Felons on Film podcast, as we discuss Paranorman and its delightful score by Jon Brion. Welcome to Animation August, where each week we'll be covering a film and score from a variety of animation backgrounds from Disney to anime to much more! This week, we're starting with the highest-grossing non-Disney animated movie of the 80s, so join us somewhere out there as we discuss An American Tail and its score by James "Horny" Horner.
