We all respond to pressure in different ways. Sometimes it can produce good things - other times it reveals some not-so-good things. As the pressure builds towards the Cross, both Jesus and Peter respond in different ways. 

We long for community, but why is unity so hard to achieve? Jesus prays for us to be one, so why do churches have divsions and so many denominations?

As Jesus is hours away from the Cross, we get a glimpse of his heart's deepest desire. He prays. For himself and for his disciples. 

What did Jesus say the Holy Spirit will do for us?

Following Jesus always has a cost. Jesus prepares his disciples for his leaving. They will be rejected, expelled, persecuted, and killed for their allegiance to him. But Jesus says the Spirit is on the way to help them stand firm. 

Tough times, uncertain times, rudderless times. All are a given for every person. The disciples are going through one in John 14. But Jesus gives some golden promises that are beyond helpful for them and for us. 

Failures in Christian leadership and public deconstruction stories are discouraging, but they're nothing new. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus, our glorious Saviour.

When Jesus washed the feet of his disciples he showed us what God is like. We are called to be a humble receiver of His grace and a humble servant of others.

Jesus heals a paralyzed man - but the miracle quickly turns into a confrontation about authority. Who does Jesus think he is? The question is: will we listen to his voice?
