Clear Tinted Classics

First time guest on the show, Stephanie, joins Jake to talk about this beloved French film. Is it the equivalent of a warm hug, or is it just too fast paced and wild for its own good? They talk about Stephanie's experience as an actor and writer, her new move to L.A., dive into her taste in film and TV (Atlanta is discussed quite a bit, it's a great show btw), and then they talk about the...

We are back in the Cage with this absolutely classic 90's action flick, Con Air. Tony Walters returns to the show to talk about how they just don't make them like this anymore. We dive into classic action movies, talk briefly about the most recent Matrix movie, then jump into Con Air. Who is number one on Tony's top eight bad guys in the movie list? You'll have to listen to find ou...

Justin is back to talk about this Guy Ritchie... classic? Yeah it's the most recent movie that has ever gotten a full episode on the podcast, but hey, it is what it is. And it's a trip back to a time when Ritchie made fun British gangster movies, so it kind of counts, right? Is Matthew McConaughey acting his ass off? What is the puff game? Why is there a full UK drill rap music video in the middle...

We needed two guests to cover this movie, the sprawling, melancholy neo-western film that is: Paris, Texas. Jancy and Robert are back on the show, together! They and Jake discuss how they are all friends (hint, a D&D campaign) and then they dive into this slow-burn drama about a broken man trying to figure out how to do right by the family he left behind. Do yourselves a favor and watch the mo...

Is Cool World an unsung masterpiece, or is it a hot mess, kind of like, well, the titular Cool World? Jake mostly thinks so, but return guest, Andrew, has a lot to say in favor of this divisive film from one of the great cartoonists, Ralph Bakshi. Was this a good film to start Jake's dive into Bakshi? Probably not, but here we are, so you might as well check it out!

Justin is back on the show to call Jake out for saying the second Crow movie is good. Is Jake gonna die on this hill and defend it? Or will they just wallow in the misery that is this failed sequel thing? Mostly the latter, but Mia Kirshner still rules dammit!

Robert is back on the show to introduce Jake to Robert Altman, and Philip Marlowe. What do they know about noir? What do they know about hardboiled detectives? What do they know about a sexy Elliot Gould who can light a match on any surface? Well, they are about to know a lot more. Check it out!

Brittnie is back on the show to talk about this horror classic about a ghost that can move stuff haunting a very likable family. Is is scary? Is it funny? Is it charming? Probably, yes, but you'll have to listen to find out!

Matt Vella joins Jake for the first time from all the way on the other side of the globe in Australia. They talk about Matt's journey into filmmaking, with a brief detour into fast food joints and Power Rangers before diving into one of the most famous noir films of all time. Does it live up to the hype? You'll have to listen to find out. Please go check out Matt Vella on all things social media a...

Jake is joined by first time guest Hunter Nino from Horror Dadz Productions to talk about this gritty sort of found footage cop movie. Why sort of found footage? Well, that's a whole thing. Come listen as they dive into Hunter's journey into producing and acting, and how his time on the force gives him insight into the film. Check it out!

It's time to finally tackle one of the biggest films Jake has never seen. First time guest, and someone who has been in the play of the same name before, Luke, is here to hold his hand through this surprisingly subtle study on power dynamics and your place in this world. Uhm, dive on in!

Jake usually likes the Coen brothers. But he's not sure about this one. If you want to hear him try to parse through those thoughts, boy is this the show for you.

Shane Black is back, this classic 90's action flick with two fun leads that Jake has never see all the way through is the topic in this week's episode. Third time guest Justin is here to help him go through this one. It's a blast.

The quest to see every supposedly good Adam Sandler movie continues, this time with The Wedding Singer. Is it good? Or will Jake be singing "Somebody Kill Me Please" by the end unironically?

Jake is joined by special effects artist, metal head, horror fan, and lover of good 80's and 90's anime Deryk Wehrley. They chat about his influences getting into the filmmaking world and then dive into the dense, iconic film Akira. Come check it out. Find more from Deryk on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/deryk.must.be.destroyed/

Jake is trying something different this time. He's watching a movie and talking during it. It's a commentary. Pop the movie on and watch it with him. Or don't! Live your life how you want.

Jake felt like talking about a movie he likes. It's kind of Christmas themed. Sort of. Whatever, listen to it, it's good, it's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang!

Yeah, it's another one of these. I talk about the podcast Cinephobe, the show House of Dragons, the movies Horrible Bosses 2, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Tar, Decision to Leave, and The Menu, and then cap it off by raving about the show Taskmaster. So, yeah. Bit shit, innit?

It's almost Thanksgiving, so it felt appropriate to finally cover Planes, Trains And Automobiles. Bron returns to the show to chastise Jake some more about all the movies he hasn't seen, and then they dig into this Steve Martin, John Candy, John Hughes classic. Please check out Bron's projects, Half-Dead Fred and Pancake Man!

Jake is flying solo on this one, and he's taking on this would be erotic thriller from the 90's. He hoped it would be a sleazy, fun time. It was not. Listen to him get spicy for once.

Jake is joined by new friend to the show Ashley to break down the slow-burn, horror film, Audition! First they talk about her recent journey into acting, her insanely early introduction to horror, and then they jump into the film. Check it out!

Friend of the show Justin returns for a reverse episode where he has never seen this John Carpenter classic, but Jake has! They talk about Kurt Russell, Carpenter, a lot about Brandon Lee and The Crow for some reason, and then about the movie. Check it out.

Is Ginger Snaps a classic? If it isn't, it should be. Spoilers, but Jake and his first time guest, En, love this movie. They talk about En's taste in film and television, especially nerdy pop culture, and then they dig into this Canadian teen werewolf extravaganza.

It might not be scary in a traditional sense, but this movie still twists the minds of Jake and Daisy in this episode. They try to piece out if this is actually a good movie or not, but before that, they talk about Daisy's upcoming show Spells Abound, her relationship with horror movies, and then they dive into the film. Stay tuned through the end for some hot takes on Rings of Power and House of...

Are Rob Zombie's Halloween films classics? No, but hey, we are doing them on the show anyway. First time guest Bryn is on the show to talk her history with movies, love of horror, experiences in filmmaking, and then A LOT of Halloween movie talk. Come check it out.
