Clay's Canucks Commentary

With a depleted lineup, the Canucks fell 7-2 to the Edmonton Oilers, dropping their preseason record to 0-3-2.  They have 2 more games remaining.

The Canucks are 0-2-2 after four preseason games.  Is this cause for concern?  Or is nothing to be worried about?

Andrei Kuzmenko had 3 points and Elias Pettersson had 2 points in the Canucks 4-3 overtime loss to the visiting Seattle Kraken. I break down what I liked, what I didn't like, and other thing from the game.

As the Canucks prepare for their preseason game vs. the Kraken, I talk about what it will take to develop an actual rivalry with our neighbours from the south.

Brock Boeser, Ilya Mikheyev, and Tyler Myers all missed the Canucks practice today, forcing Bruce Boudreau to roll out 4 new lines. And Travis Dermott got injured during the practice itself.

I talk about Brock Boeser's unfortunate injury and how it effects the Canucks lineup.  Brock had successful hand surgery after getting injured at training camp and is now slated to miss 3-4 weeks.

The Canucks dropped 3-2 and 4-0 decisions to the Calgary Flames in a pair of split-squad games.   Pettersson, Garland, Podkolzin, and Kuzmenko all had good games in Vancouver, but there is concern about Ilya Mikheyev's injury.

The Canucks opened their three-day training camp in Whistler with some interesting combos at both forward and defence. I break down all of the combinations and what they might mean for certain players going forward.

Ahead of training camp in Whistler, Canucks players (Horvat, Demko, Miller, and Ekman-Larsson) and head coach Bruce Boudreau spoke with the media. I give my revised line predictions and invite viewers to do the same.

I talk about Nathan MacKinnon's new deal and I look at the Canucks salaries for the 2022-23 season:  which players are overpaid and which ones are underpaid?

Today I had the pleasure of volunteering for the annual Jake Milford Canucks Charity Invitational golf tournament. I got to interact with Canucks players, coaches, alumni, and media members.  I had great chats with guys like Brue Boudreau, Conor Garland, and Travis Dermott.  And I learned that Spencer Martin watches my vlogs!

After a quick weekend away, I recap the Canucks 4-1 win over Winnipeg at the Young Stars Classic, who the Canucks should play on the right side of the blueline, and I look ahead to volunteering at the Jake Milford Canucks Charity Golf tournament.

In my final show of the week, I touch on a bunch of smaller topics including the Canucks prospects gathering in Penticton for the Young Stars Classic, Quinn Hughes in Vegas for the Players Media Tour, the Canucks TV schedule, and my Canucks tickets for sale.

I talk about Tyler Motte joining the Ottawa Senators and Alex Chiasson signing a PTO with the Arizona Coyotes.

Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes skated with the team today and they are already ahead of last season when they missed all of training camp due to their contract negotiations.

Bo Horvat, JT Miller, and Conor Garland all took the ice today for the Canucks. As expected, most of the focus was on Bo Horvat and the ongoing contract negotiations.
