Clay's Canucks Commentary

The Canucks are tied with the Boston Bruins atop the NHL standings as they head into the All-Star Break. We recap the Canucks' win over the Blue Jackets and we talk about some of the factors behind the Canucks strong play. And of course, I answer all of your questions...there were a lot of them!

The Canucks are the top team in the NHL in terms of points AND points percentage....and they are sending 5 players and a coach to All-Star weekend. But do they get enough respect? I also touch on Dice and Ice, changes to d-pairings at practice, and Rick Tocchet's comments on Elias Pettersson's recent play.

Pius Suter scored the second hat trick of his career in a 4-3 Canucks overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues. The Canucks battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the third period.

Thatcher Demko stopped all 31 shots to earn his 5th shutout of the season, as the Canucks beat the undermanned Chicago Blackhawks 2-0. The Canucks have points in their last 9 games.

The Canucks keep on winning. They're coming off an exciting 6-4 win over Toronto Maple Leafs and they are looking at 3 more winnable games before the All-Star Break. And speaking of All-Star Break, they have 5 players in the game, 3 players in the skills competition, and one of the co-captains. Everything is going right!

Elias Pettersson scored on the power play and Dakota Joshua netted the game-winning goal as the Canucks defeated the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 in game one of their five game homestand. I also talk about one of my tweets that unintentionally went mini-viral.

After returning from their 7 game road trip, the Canucks now play their next 5 games at home before the All-Star Break. And I share a very important PSA about the importance of carbon monoxide detectors.

The Canuck are 18 games over .500 and atop the Pacific Division with 38 games remaining. Should GM Patrik Allvin look to go all in for this season? I build cases for both going all in and not going all in.

The Canucks dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Columbus Blue Jackets in their final game of their marathon 7 game road trip. They return home having earned 11 out of a possible 14 points. As well, I bring on Hall-of-Fame member Justin Credible to greet him a happy birthday.

It took a while, but the Canucks finally arrived in Columbus ahead of their early game vs. the Blue Jackets Monday afternoon. The Canucks sit atop the league standings, and they have five players and one head coach heading to next month's All-Star game.

The Canucks defeated the Buffalo Sabres 1-0 in a feisty affair; it's Thatcher Demko's 4th shutout of the season and the Canucks' 5th straight victory...all on the road. As well, Elias Pettersson, JT Miller, Brock Boeser, and Thatcher Demko will be joining Quinn Hughes at the NHL All-Star Game in Toronto.

Elias Pettersson had 2 goals and 2 assists (including the overtime winner) and the Lotto Line combined for 9 points as the Canucks defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in overtime; it's their fourth consecutive win. As well, I talk about Jacob making Team Canada for bowling, the demise of Game Over, and a carbon monoxide scare at my house.

The Canucks defeated the New York Islanders 5-2 and reach the halfway point of the season 16 games over .500 at 27-11-3...good for 57 points.

The Lotto Line combined for 8 points in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Devils, and they looked extremely impressive in the victory. Is it best to keep them together for a while? Or does it have to much of an effect on the rest of the line up?

We preview the Canucks' upcoming road trip. As well, we give away 2 prints created by my good friend Dave Lee-Son, and we find out which of my three kids is the biggest wimp when it comes to watching scary movies.

Pius Suter had 2 goals and an assist, and Elias Pettersson added two goals as the Canucks started 2024 off on the right foot with a 6-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Also, I got some really good news from my orthopedic surgeon as I continue to recover from my torn Achilles tendon.

Despite the 4-3 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars, the Canucks are now in first place in the NHL standings in terms of points and by virtue of their tie-breaker over Vegas. The Canucks wind up their road trip with 6 points, going 2-0-2 in 4 games. And I welcome my daughter Kayla for the first half of the show. She took the time to accept viewer greetings and answer viewer questions.

With 46 points in only 33 games, the Canucks are already half-way to a playoff spot. It's clear that we shouldn't settle for a wildcard spot when the top of the division is within reach!

Elias Pettersson, Ilya Mikheyev, and Pius Suter all had 2 points as the Canucks beat the Nashville Predators 5-2. The Canucks have now won 6 of their last 7 games and are only one point back of the division-leading Vegas Golden Knights.

JT Miller had 2 assists to lead the Canucks past the Blackhawks 4-3, a day after they lost 2-1 in the shootout to the Minnesota Wild. The Canucks have now won 5 out of their last 6 games, and they've taken 3 out of 4 points so far on the road trip.

Dakota Joshua scored two goals and Thatcher Demko made 36 saves in a 4-0 shut out win over the Florida Panthers. The night started off with a simple, classy ceremony for Roberto Luongo as he took his place in the Ring of Honour.

Brock Boeser scored 3 goals and Thatcher Demko made 28 saves to power the Canucks to a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. It's the third straight win for the Canucks as they look ahead to celebrating the Roberto Luongo Ring of Honour night on Thursday.

I recap the Canucks' 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. As well, I take an informal interest poll on our upcoming Vegas trip, and we end up sharing our graduation year and high school.

Casey DeSmith made 26 saves to earn his first shutout as a Canuck as the Canucks defeated the Minnesota Wild 2-0. Nils Hoglander and Teddy Blueger scored the Canucks. As always on a game night, I talked about what I liked, what I didn't like, and one other thing.
