Cinema Spin: A Movie Podcast with a Random Twist!

This is the first episode of a new mini series from Cinema Spin.   It is a musical journey through some of the great Rock N Roll Documentaries of all time.   We started with Gimme Shelter.   We hope you enjoy it!    

So much for differences of opinion in this episode as Jason and Matt both hate on Men (2022) the in first half of the show and gush over Peeping Tom (1960) in the second.

Another week, another episode and this week we have a very special guest, Jason's wife Beth.  She joins the show as someone with a particular affinity for this weeks random film The Poseidon Adventure (1972).   First up though is an in depth review of Firestarter, new in theaters this week and streaming on Peacock as well.   

Whoa!  Worlds collide this week as Matt and Jason review the latest film in the MCU, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.   Then in the second half of the show the randomizer pulled something from 1990.  Gene Hackman and Ann Archer star in Narrow Margin.  Do you remember that movie?  Do not feel bad as nobody seems to.

This week Matt and Jason are joined by our resident Nicholas Cage expert Chris for a deep dive into Cage's latest film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.  Then in the second half of the show we go back to 2007 to take a look at The Mist directed by Frank Darabont.

Wow episode 70 already!  Thanks for listening and helping to make this happen!   First up tonight is the brand new film by director Robert Eggers, The Northman (2022).   In the second half of the show The Randomizer chose a real winner for us in 1977's Damnation Alley.    The other Sci Fi film that 20th Century Fox released in 1977!

Recently added to Netflix was the latest film from Director Richard Linklater, Apollo  10 1/2.   Jason and Matt have their full reviews.   Then in the second half of the show the "randomizer" sent us back to 1987 to discover a rare hidden gem in Barry Levinson's Tin Men (1987)

Special guest Joshua Ray of Cinema St. Louis and The Lens Podcast joins us to review Everything Everywhere All at Once as well as our random film, Urban Cowboy from 1980.    Joshua also fill us in on all the details of the upcoming Q FEST, a Cinema St. Louis event that begins on April 29th at the St. Louis Galleria Theater.

Morbius is finally out in theaters and Matt and Jason are here with their reviews.   Then in the second half of the show we take and in depth look at Alfred Hitchcock's final film, Family Plot.

Brand new in theaters this was was Lost City starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, Jason and Matt have their full reviews.   Then in the shows second have the great randomizer decreed that we take a fresh look at the 2001 Cult darling, Donnie Darko.   Originally we included our Oscar prediction in this show but decided to release them as a mini episode instead.  &nbs...

Unfortunately our schedule did not allow us to post our predictions for this years Oscars but here they are now.   Recorded before the show but posted here in a totally irrelevant form!   No we did not predict that the show would feature a physical assault by one of the nights big winners.

X is a brand new horror flick out this week directed by Ti West, Jason and Matt have their full reviews!   Then in our second half the randomizer sent us all the way back to 1969 for our takes on the influential sex comedy Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice. 

In what might be the least commercially viable podcast in history, Jason and Matt watched and have their full reviews of Critical Darling Drive My Car and classic tearjerker Terms of Endearment.  Enjoy!! 

Friend of the podcast Jen again joins Jason and Matt for another episode of movie reviews.   She was brought in specifically because the randomizer chose for us to look at 1995's Home for the Holidays and that just so happens to be one of Jen's favorite movies of all time.  First up though is our look at the latest DC universe movie, the highly anticipated, The Batman. 

So the Foo Fighters made a horror movie and nobody went to see it.  Well Jason and Matt did and you can find their full review in the first half of this weeks episode of Cinema Spin.  In the back half of the show the guys take a look at the 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Belushi buddy cop comedy Red Heat.  

Our first film for this episode is KIMI (2022), a Steven Soderbergh film recently released on HBO Max.  Then in the second half of the show we go back 20 years to 2002 to revisit Road to Perdition and see if Tom Hanks can pull off playing a more dubious character than we are accustomed to seeing him play.

Matt and Jason both got back out there to the theater this week to see Kenneth Branagh's latest film, Death On The Nile.  Tune in for their full reviews.    Then for the first time in a long time the randomizer cooked up a real gem in 1978's Magic.  That is the topic of the second half of this episode.  Thanks for listening everyone!

Yep, Jason and Matt have finally gotten around to watching the Netflix smash hit Don't Look Up (2021).  Listen in for their full review.    In the second half of the show we go all the way back to 1965 to review The Cincinnati Kid starring Steve McQueen and Ann-Margret.  

Our first movie of the episode is Coda (2021) a wonderful movie that both Matt and Jason could not recommend more.   Then in our second film, randomly chosen by The Great Randomizer,   Matt and Jason take a look at Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot from 1989.

First up this week is Andrew Garfield staring in Tick, Tick... Boom!(2021), only the second musical to be featured on the show.  In our second half, the randomizer had 1997 on its mind and had us watch Gattaca starring Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman.

Join us for a review and discussion of the debut directorial effort by Maggie Gyllenhall, The Lost Daughter.   Then in our second segment the randomizer reached all the way to the bottom of the barrel and pulled out Beware! The Blob.  Matt and Jason watched it at their own peril to save you the trouble.

New to streaming on Netflix this week is The Power of the Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
