Church at the Oaks

This past Sunday, Ben continued our sermon series in Nehemiah. In chapters 11 and 12, we see the people of Israel resettling Jerusalem and celebrating the completion of the wall with a joyful dedication ceremony. This passage highlights God's faithfulness in restoring His people and their commitment to worshiping Him in response.

This Sunday Caleb continues in our Nehemiah series. He walks us through Nehemiah 7-8, reminding us that the worship of God is rooted in and founded on the Word of God.

This week Ben continues in our Nehemiah series. Through Nehemiah 4-6, we are able to see that all of us are called to live on mission by being faithful to God's call. This text reminds us that living on mission angers and brings opposition from the enemy, requiring us to be fully dependent upon the power of God to work through us and protect us.

This past Sunday, Britton continued our "Rise Up and Build" series in chapters 2-3 of Nehemiah, reminding us that God has strategically placed each of us here for a purpose. We learned that prayer is not passive—it is active warfare , declaring our dependence on the only One strong enough to move mountains.

This week we began a new sermon series going through the book of Nehemiah called Rise up and Build. Brady walked us through Nehemiah 1, where we saw that prayer is the work. Apart from God we can do nothing, so rising up and building means leaning on God. At Oaks, we build the Kingdom of God by trusting Him and walking forward in faithful obedience.

This Sunday we looked at a core heartbeat of Oaks- Gospel Multiplication. We, as a church, carry a burden to multiply on every level. This week was Oaks 4th Birthday!! The birthday gives us a reminder of the miraculous things God has done in and through Oaks. We are reminded the importance of remembering and celebration. By celebrating and remembering the great things he is using us to do we give greater glory to him and abide even more deeply in him. Oaks exists to send disciplemakers of Jesus by being disciplemakers of Jesus.

Legacy is built on generosity. Britton proposed that the question for giving is not "How much do I give" rather it is "How much do I keep." Radical generosity with faith that the Lord will provide leads to radical kingdom impact as we have seen countless times in the word. At Oaks, we are radically generous because we want to send disciplemakers of Jesus by being disciplemakers of Jesus.

This week Britton walks us through a few passages centered around community. As a church we seek to leave a lasting legacy. The way that Oaks does this is through biblical purposeful community. We are not called to build castles in the Kingdom of God, but simply to be a labourer within the kingdom. To build the kingdom we send disciplemakers of Jesus simply by being disciplemakers of Jesus.

This week Britton kicked off a new series at Oaks called Leaving Legacy. He looked at the Kingdom legacy that Paul left in Asia Minor through evangelism and disciple-making and explored the world-changing impact that simple faithfulness can have, both for Paul and for us today.

This week, Dave walks us through Psalm 145:1-13 and we see the abounding love of the Father for us. Because of this love we get the joy of lifting our praise to Him in thanksgiving. As followers of Christ we get to share this mighty love and blessing to all of creation. This is why Church at the Oaks exists to send disciplemakers of Jesus by being disciplemakers of Jesus.

Britton walks us through Advent week of peace.

This week is Joy Sunday! We get to celebrate the joy of Jesus coming down to earth as good news of Great Joy! Britton walked us through Luke 2:8-12 as we see the importance of keeping Jesus as the source of our joy as we serve him. At oaks we exist to send disciplemakers of Jesus by being disciplemakers of Jesus.

As we enter into the season of advent Britton walked us through Ephesians 2. In this season we are reminded that if our hope is in anything but Christ it is not hope but simply luck. As a church our hope is built on Jesus and we want to see others know the Hope of Him. Church at the Oaks exists to send disciplemakers of Jesus by being disciplemakers of Jesus.

This week Dave walked us through Colossians 3:1-11. He explained to us what Paul meant when he told Believers in Colossae to "seek the things above" and encouraged us to live our lives for that which is eternal instead of the many things of the world that can steal our attention and our affections away from Christ.

This week Britton walked us through Colossians 2:16-23. He reminded us that following Jesus is not just about fixing our behaviors but building a relationship as Paul describes in this passage. Britton encouraged us to lay down our striving and our efforts at the foot of the Cross and respond instead with faithful obedience that comes out of the overflow of our relationship with Jesus.

This week Britton walked us through Colossians 2:6-15. He explained the pathway of discipleship that Paul lays out in this passage and encouraged us to pursue the fullness of a relationship with Christ in our own lives so that we might not fall prey to the empty and deceptive philosophies of the world.

This week one of our Ministry Residents, Brady Read, led us through the next passage in our series on Colossians. He broke down Paul's words of encouragement to the Church of Colossae regarding the plausible arguments of the world and explained how we can follow the same steps to avoid being led astray as we go and make disciples.

This week Britton walked us through the next passage in our series on the book of Colossians. We looked at Paul's passionate description of his own ministry and saw the ways that we can model our lives after his as missional disciples that seek to glorify God by living on mission to make disciples of all nations.

This week Britton walked through Colossians 1:15 -23 and shows us how Jesus is Lord over Creation, the Church, and You. We are challenged to truly place Jesus first in our lives because of his preeminence. At Oaks Jesus is first while we make disciplemakers of Jesus by being disciplemakers of Jesus.
