I wonder if we have over complicated discipleship in churches. What if all it took to help people become mature followers of good was a willingness for us to say "yes" to the idea of spending time with Christians, opening the bible together, praying, and trusting the Holy Spirit? Today we look at simple discipleship ideas from the bible.

I believe that if we truly trust God we will say, "Yes," to whatever He asks of us. And saying, "Yes," allows us to share in the work that Jesus himself did here on earth. There should be nothing more exciting or motivating for a Christian than doing the same work that Jesus Himself was doing! What if God's love for us became cliche? What if it somehow lots it's meaning and impact in our lives? That would be tragic. In today's message we strive to refresh our appreciation for God's great love for us and to allow ourselves to to be moved by the God of love once again.

In this message we ask about value, worth, and what lasting treasure actually looks like. Are we investing our lives in a treasure that will slip through our fingers or a treasure that will be our eternally?

Certain attitudes, behaviors, and ideas can threaten churches. It's obvious today that many church have become weak and don't reflect Christ because bad ideas have been allowed to bring bad results in the church. Paul saw something that was threatening the church in Thessalonica and in the passage we're going to look at today, he addresses it head on.

We all need encouragement in our faith. We all need to be spurred on to hold on to what we have with Jesus. On the heels of a great warning about trouble and persecution, Paul speaks to our hearts about the precious faith we have in Jesus.

What is the Day of the Lord? Is it coming in the future? Or has it already taken place in the past? Today we look at a passage that has two main ways of being understood. But, no matter how we look at it, the sovereignty, authority, and justice of God are seen very clearly.

Does persecution serve a purpose? How does our perseverance now connect to Jesus' second coming? How does our faith lead us today in our actions and lifestyle? Answers to all these questions and so much more in today's message.

This is the end of Paul's farewell to the Thessalonians in his first letter. These sections of letters are easy to glaze over but, what does it mean that God is the God of peace? What does it mean that He wants to make us holy? Why does Paul mention the spirit, soul, and body? Is good really working to keep us blameless? Why do Paul and his companions as the Thessalonians for prayer? A sacred kiss...

In today's section, Paul talks to us about joy, prayer, thankfulness, and the importance of the Holy Spirit and prophecy. As Christians, there are many attitudes and ways to relate to God that should be a consistent part of our lives lived for Jesus. We're going to cover some of those today. My hope is that you see how and why everything we talk about can be part of your Christian experience.

How to think about church leaders, peace in the church; lazy, weak, timid Christians, and revenge. Paul really covers a lot of ground in just four verses as he begins to conclude his first letter to the Thessalonians. This advice is so practical and needed for the health of the church.

At CFC, we had a church discussion coming up right after this message. So, this short message was a reminder and an encouragement that asking questions is a great way to discuss with people, seek to understand one another's perspectives, and be like Jesus.

Is there a connection between Easter and Christ's second coming? For sure there is! In this Easter Sunday message we discover the link between living as born again believers and looking forward to the return of our Lord.
