To become wise you must seek wise counsel. What better place to start than in Proverbs?

God makes a covenant with Isaac. Isaac lies to Abimelech. Isaac digs some wells. Esau marries annoying women.

Abraham dies, we see a genealogy of the children of Ishmael, Isaac's sons are born and Esau's birthright is taken for a meal.

Wisdom is like vegetables. You don't think you need them until you start to get sick from not eating them.

Abraham's Servant is given the task to find Isaac a wife in the home land of Abraham. When he arrives he finds the woman he is praying to find. We also see Laban's slick ways as a young man for shadowing what he will do later on to Jacob.

In this chapter Abraham arranges his wife's funeral and buy a plot of land to bury her in. The joy of gaining wisdom should prompt you to obey God's voice, respect Him, and to follow what he has to say in the Bible.

God test us to ensure we will follow our direction. If we follow what God has for us we will receive what we are looking for. However if we stray from the path God makes for us and assume we know what is best we will surely fail.

When you get what you are promised there is cause for rejoicing. This is the case when Isaac is born. However, when he is around 2 year old he is mocked by his older brother Ishmael. This prompts Ishmaels removal from the house of Abraham. Abimelech and Abraham make a covenant to not have strife between one another after Abimelech's servants seize one of Abraham's wells.

Wisdom is very important to ensure that we stay on path to do what is right. You can hear many wise sayings and listen to every podcast episode ever made, but the question will always remain. What will you do with the wisdom gained?

Abraham allows fear to overtake his better judgement. This cause God to punish Abimelech for taking his wife Sarah. At the end of the chapter we see the reconciliation and the restoration of King Abimelech. 

In this chapter Lot is saved from the city of Sodom and Gomorrah by two angels sent to the city to destroy it. Lot makes a deal with them not to destroy all the cities nearby and flees their. However he gets afraid and leaves the city to live in the mountains. While living in the caves he is victim to his oldest daughter's plot to get pregnant.

Abraham treats his visitors well, feeding them a great meal before they depart. When Sarah overhears them speaking she laughs at the thought of having a child, even to the point of lying to God. When God's plan to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah is revealed; Abraham pleads that if he finds 10 righteous people to not destroy the city we will see what he does next.

Abram finally has his name changed to Abraham. We then see why he obeyed his wife's command in the last chapter; he doubted God's promises.

The wise sayings continue to make me rethink life and hope to become a better person. Let me know which of these made you feel more wise.

Abram fails to follow God's commands and falls into a difficult situation. Hagar realizing she's pregnant starts to treat Sarai badly. When the favor is returned by Sarai; Hagar is distraught and runs away🥴.

Abram questions God out of confusion. Then he waits having obeyed God's command. We then learn that his descendants will be oppressed and the will come out with great possessions(the exodus story).

This collection of wise sayings is very enticing and makes me want to continuously reread them. Let me know which ones were your favorite.

Abram save Lot from the hand of five Kings with only 318 men trained men. Abram is also blessed by the Kingly Priest Melchizedek.

Abram listens to God's voice and goes on the Canaan. We observe that he has a charatcer of diligence and obedience, yet is subject to fear and overthinking.
