Christ the King Presbyterian Church Sermons

Unity with others in the church is based upon God's grace and His provision for there is one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. Out of these things, God gifts His people.

In the first three chapters of Ephesians, Paul tells us who we are (in Christ). In the next three chapters, Paul builds upon who we are in Christ to help us to know what we are to do, how we are to live.

Where is your power, how do you love, what fills your life? Having considered these things, this week at look at 1) Glory, 2) Priority, 3) the Object of your faith, 4) Assessing true faith, 5) the Shape of faith, 6) Knowing Jesus -v- knowing about Jesus, and 7) living Praise.

Now that Paul has helped the Ephesian Christians (and us) understand their identity--who we are in Christ Jesus--Paul prays for Christ's followers: 1) that we may be strengthened with power, 2) that we may know God's love, and 3) that we may be filled with the fullness of God. Why? To get us ready for what is next!

Self-help? 1)The way up is the way down; 2) What does real growth and progress look like?; 3) The gospel mystery? A new humanity.

The apostle Paul calls us to remember who we were before and tells us who we are now in Christ Jesus - a new humanity.

To know God we must first know ourselves and our condition. What is our natural state apart from the work of Christ Jesus? What of the state of those in Christ?

We live in a world shrouded in darkness yet we can share our Christmas light, the light of the World, the Word. How? 1) Face the darkness. 2) Make the journey. 3) See the light. Mix obedience with faith!

How does God meet our deepest desires, what is our necessary part to play in God's plan, and what is His profound promise.

A look at the trajectory of God's grace from the beginning by which he establishes relationship with his people. Furthermore, a look at 1) the purpose of our relationship, 2) the gift of enmity, and 3) the restoration of our relationship.

Grace may be better understood from the Old Testament in the accounts of God dealing graciously with His people. When our pastor Chuck Isaac became suddenly unavailable due to an unforeseen event, Ruling Elder Gary Anaya filled in at the last moment with this message.

What is the sum of our prayers? Knowing Jesus; much more that just knowing about Jesus.
