The shepherd’s rod is used to defend, examine, and discipline the sheep, while the shepherd’s staff is used to guide, rescue, and draw a mother and her newborn ewe close together. King David uses these tools to symbolically demonstrate how the Good Shepherd brings comfort to those who follow and put their trust in Him.  

The very middle of Psalm 23 contains the simple phrase, “for You are with me. This points us to the intent of Psalm 23 and all of the Bible—God wants to be with us, and He is willing to go to great lengths to make that happen! 

Even when we walk through dark valleys, we are called to be people of disciplined hope who keep our eyes focused on the promised light of Christ.

Petey speaks to how obedience to Christ is the only thing that will lead us onto right paths, since Jesus Himself is the only right path to a life with God.

This week, Carrie speaks on how through a relationship with Jesus we find belonging, individually with Him and collectively with each other. Nothing can keep us from having a relationship with Jesus when we accept what He did for us on the cross. We are adopted into His family and through that share in His inheritance.

The sermon, hitting one of the most well known passages in Galatians “I have been crucified with Christ,” asks what we need to lay down so that we can experience the life God has for us.

Petey kicks off this Lenten series with how Jesus is the only way to the life God has for us, and how the Apostle Paul passionately challenged any other path to an abundant life that we might be tempted to take.

Melissa walks us through how reading Scripture over and over and over allows us to develop a personal, loving relationship with God as we learn who God is in the pages of the Bible.

Petey talks about the abundance of God through the giving of our resources, specifically our finances. The practice of generosity shows us God’s provision and goodness alone when the temptation is to cling to control with our money.  

This week Emily taught us that hospitality is a practice that makes space in our lives for God’s presence and purposes. While hospitality might require courage, we shouldn’t make it over-complicated.
