To experience the fullness of the Christmas story, we must move beyond simply celebrating the arrival of the Christ child and find our own place in the nativity story. Like the Magi of old, we’re encouraged to respond to the Messiah’s birth both by kneeling before him and by sharing the Good News with a broken world.  

In this Christmas Eve sermon, Petey talks about the importance of Jesus’ presence being the light for our lives and our world.

In the conclusion to our series on 1 Corinthians, Petey points us to the power of resurrection to bring newness, forgiveness, and hope into our lives and our world.

This sermon covers how order in worship allows us to listen and respond to the Holy Spirit together while lifting up the voices and gifts of everyone.

Every week, we look out the windows to remind us that our faith is meant for the world. In this sermon, Petey talks about the importance of integrating our faith into our daily lives.

We can help others be open to the Gospel’s movement through practices of invitation. In this message, Petey explains that invitation is something we can all do as we encourage others to “come and see” the possibilities of a life with Jesus.  

We can become open to the how the gospels moves when we’re open to relationships with one another. Relational practices like confession and telling the truth help us depend on the power of the gospel more in our everyday lives.

Petey talks about the practice of Reflection as one of our four practices of openness. Regular reflection helps us be open to the how the Gospel moves in each of our lives by drawing us closer to God.

Paul shows in 1 Corinthians 9 that our freedom as Christians is meant to be used to love God and love others. The Christian life is full of many “small deaths to self” where we can put others before our own preferences and wants in order to experience more of the blessings of the gospel.

Guest speaker Andy Sikora shared about how God calls us to focus on loving our neighbors and look beyond calling things sinful that are matters of conscience.

Pastor Emily dives into how the Gospel story is meant to impact every part of lives—including the way Christians do and don’t have sex. 

In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul explores the consequences of Christians viewing physical intimacy as separate from the health of their souls and their relationship with God. Petey encourages us to see all of our lives as reclaimed by the Gospel.

James spoke on Sunday about how we are prone to wander away from Jesus toward sin and selfishness. God’s grace doesn’t leave us free to cohabit comfortably with our sin. As the church family, we need to build relationships where we can speak into each other’s lives to help each other walk in the fullness of Christ’s love.

Petey talks about what it means to “right size” ourselves in light of the Gospel, not trying to play God nor shrinking from the calling God has on our lives.

In First Corinthians, Paul is trying to help us see that we don’t just receive salvation from the cross, but that our lives are supposed to take the shape of the cross. A cross-shaped life magnifies God’s power in our vulnerability and weakness.

On Sunday, Carrie spoke on how living in a relationship with Jesus means living counter-culturally to the ways of the world but in doing so, you’ll find true fulfillment and an authentic way of living that is so much richer than anything the world could offer you.
