We're back from the long, relaxing festive season and ready to kick ass in 2019! Sandy and Matty recap some of the games that kept them cozy during the holidays, including Persona 5, NieR Automata, Jackbox Party Pack and Super Smash Ultimate.  It's not old if it's new to someone, right?

It's that time of the year so Matty and Sandy have sat down to discuss their personal five favourite Games of the Year. Or, games they've played this year. Some of us are still a little behind on that backlog, you understand right?

We're all about Smashing this week, with Nintendo's big new "Everybody's Here" fighter releasing on Switch. Matty and Sandy discuss who they're favourite Smash fighters are, while also briefly discussing Battlefield V and Pokemon GO. King K. Rool ain't got nothing on this podcast.

Without getting that Ducktales theme song stuck in your head (too late), Matty and Sandy discuss how Cat Tales isn't really just Stardew Valley with cats. Sandy then praises Pokemon Let's Go (and only calls Eevee shit once), while also washing out the taste of Fallout 76 with a return to Fallout 4.

This week on Checkpoint Chat, Sandy waxes lyrical about Beat Saber for PSVR, and recounts all the calories he's burnt playing it. The pair then discuss the imminent Game Awards at length, making bold predictions on who will take home the most honours. We round things out as always with weekly news and questions!

In this week's controversial episode of Checkpoint Chat, Sandy discusses his disdain for Eevee while enjoying the murderous trappings of Hitman 2. Sandy jettisons back into No Man's Sky and finds some refined, but still rough edges, and the pair finally tackle their most complex listener question yet: What makes the perfect pizza? Aside from ones with pineapple of course.
