Another week, another massive upheaval in the Smutco Industries household (not to mention Maxx's allergies...sorry for the coughing), but we're soldiering on! We're revisiting a favorite author of ours (Petra Palerno) for another one of her delightfully unhinged monsterfucker tales; this time, it's Abducted by Moonlight , the perfect confluence of werewolves, aliens, and Omega vibes! This episode...

We have a very special episode for everyone this week, because LAST weekend, Katie and Maxx hung out in Portland, Oregon and did a live episode at Romancing Portland 2026! MacLean ( Beasts of the Void duology), and honorary Smutco Industries Intern, Lauren Devora (who is not only an author, but a co-host of the In Our Ears podcast, a...

When we covered Eden Crowe's Bowling With Bigfoot way back on episode 87, Maxx told a story of his youthful, small-town hijinks. Edwn was so tickled that she wrote an ENTIRE BOOK about the hilarious tale! Okay...she  briefly mentions it in  Mingling With Mothman , her latest adorable slice-of-small-town-life tale in her Monsters of Mistwood series. It is still very cool, and the book is another Ed...

For our season four opener, we are finally taking on a long-requested book:  Morning Glory Milking Farm by C.M. Nascosta. Listeners have wanted to hear Katie lay this one on Maxx, and needless to say, he was not ready. Book Description Violet is a typical, down-on-her-luck millennial: mid-twenties, over-educated and drowning in debt, on the verge of moving into her parents' basement. When a lifeli...

We also talked about her previous novels, how she made the jump from the stage to...

On the one hand, this week's episode is a few days late. Fairy, Sabrina Cross, Sylvia Morrow, Luna Cantrip, Clover Holloway, Elsie LePlant, Kenzie James, and La...

On this week's episode, Maxx mentioned that he would be making his return to stand-up comedy. Like any good comic, he recorded the seven-minute performance, and now he would like to share it with all of you! Prior to the set, Katie and Maxx talk briefly about Maxx's history with stand-up comedy, his inspirations, and his plans going forward. (Audio recorded 13 October 2025 at Crunchie's in East La...

It's a race against the clock this week, as Katie and Maxx barrel through  The Flower Queen by Phenix Lynn, each with a heroic amount of edibles (consumed right before Maxx hit "Record") slowly kicking in. Whether they won or lost depends on how you feel about a married couple giddily recounting a smutty Thumbelina retelling! Book Description Leena is a day away from marrying her best friend, King...

A while back, Katie put the word out on Bluesky asking for book recs, and AS Adams said, "Hey, check  this shit out!" and suggested their book " MILF: A Holiday Romance ." We are grateful for their boldness, as this episode was a sexy and hilarious blast from start to finish! Book Description After six months of late night feedings, dirty diapers, and a baby who’d rather be held than sleep in his...

A certain neurodivergent producer/husband has an affinity for truth in advertising, so it should come as no surprise that Katie had a blast telling Maxx all about  My Billionaire Boss Is A Vampire by Kate McDarris. All that was missing in the title was a "But" and then a comically long list of things they wanted to do to their boss. (Producer's note: Oh, just you wait...) Book Description "My boss...

To Maxx's delight, the darkness of Sinful Signings is behind us ( Producer's Note: LOVE YOU, SINFUL BESTIES!!! ), and now things can get back to normal, with "normal" meaning "the weird and goofy stuff," and few do weird and goofy like Bjorn Wilde! This week, Katie covers books 1-5 of Bjorn's stepparent taboo series, Taking The Step , and we lose our collective minds at the notion of an 18-year-ol...

Producer's Note: we understand that this isn't a normal episode, and that you may not be interested in hearing us talk about Sinful Signings again . If you would like to hear about the giveaway, jump ahead to the 24:50 mark. No book this week as we're blasting this one out far and wide for patrons and main liners alike! This week we're recapping Sinful Signings 2025, looking ahead to BOTH Sinful S...

Producer's Note: given the difficult nature of capturing live sound, this episode's volume levels are going to be higher than what you are used to. For our first Sinful Signings in 2024, we interviewed New York Times bestselling author Brynne Weaver and had no idea how we could top that. Well, thanks to the amazing Sinful Signings team (thank you, Autumn, Desi, and David!), we were able to top it...

Our last pre- Sinful Signings episode is here and it is a WILD one! This week, Katie and Carl are joined by fellow Sinful Signings attendees Kelly and Branden of Blush Podcast , and they were game for Only Her by N. Slater. After the traumas inflicted upon Carl by last week's book ( Producer's note: Still love you, Burd! ), Katie felt like something sweet and sapphic was in order! Book Description...

We are SO. CLOSE. To Sinful Signings 2025 (July 19-20 in Roanoke, Virginia), and the dark parade of attending authors covered on our show marches on with The Three Ring Scavenger by S. A. Burd. Katie has longed to cover one of of Burd's books on the show, and the wait paid off big time, as it led her to this bonkers tale of demons, gods, and vampires getting up to no good. Book Description A vampi...
