This week, we consider the theme of the book of Proverbs from Chapter 1, verses 1-7.

In our series through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus' instruction takes an inward turn - asking us to evaluate how we practice our faith and how we manage external action with internal righteousness.  Join us this week as Pastor Brian takes us into Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18.

How are Christians to respond to their enemies?  During this sermon, Pastor Brian walks through some of Jesus' hardest words in the Sermon on the Mount.  Who do you recognize as your opponents?  How do you treat them?

This week, Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church celebrates her 150th Anniversary.  As we reflect on that history, it is important to keep in mind God's faithfulness, but we have to be careful that our nostalgia about times-gone-by does not cause us to forget the goals that are set before us.

As citizens of the Kingdom, our words should be dependable.  In this section of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus stresses the importance of honesty and integrity when it comes to our words.  For Christians, our words should be our oath.  

Our contemporary culture has drifted light years away from Jesus' plain teaching on marriage.  Though divorce touches so many people, God's plan from Genesis is still the best.  This week's sermon, from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, considers the biblical picture of marriage and encourages faithfulness to God's standard as citizens of the Kingdom.
